Moon Hill Villa - Delight

Publié le 21 juill. 2024 sur HomeAway
Moon Hill Villa was a delightful place to stay. The stunning 2-bedroom house offered breathtaking views, including the majestic mountain, which was equally captivating whether covered by clouds or seen on a clear day. On sunny days, the views of the sea and distant islands such as Redonda and Montserrat were spectacular. Overall, the scenery in all directions was beautiful. We experienced nature at its finest, with the sounds of various animals like donkeys, sheep, goats, and roosters, and the soothing chirping of crickets at night. Sitting out on the veranda and gazing at the stars was a truly magical experience. Tessy, the Chef, treated us to wonderful meals, adding to the charm of our stay. Moon Hill Villas is superb for travellers who enjoy outdoor life, Caribbean style!

Neighborhood animal noise keep us awake pretty much every night.

Publié le 18 mai 2024 sur HomeAway
Nice property but in a neighborhood where there are goats, roosters, dogs and donkeys that bleet, crow, bark and bray most of the night. The bedrooms are not air conditioned so you can’t close the windows. There are ceilings fans that are old and ineffective. When I talked to the owner about the bedrooms being so hot he told me to open the all the doors and get an ocean breeze. Unfortunately the bedrooms are at the rear of the house. There is a breeze on the porch and I ended up sleeping out there on a sofa but had to contend with the animal noises and the mosquitoes. There is a local housekeeper that comes in and I mentioned it to her and she says everyone complains about it. After the first night we found another house on the island but decided it would probably get better or we would get used to it. It didnt get better and we didn’t get used to it. Also to a lesser degree it would have been nice to of had a microwave and a washer and dryer. If someone else who stayed here would have written about this in their review it certainly would have been appreciated and saved us many sleepless nights.

Jack, I am sorry that your vacation on Nevis got off to a bad start when you missed your plane and were then further delayed leading to frustrations with everything from the moment you arrived on the island. As reflected in the reviews of our villa from many guests from VRBO and other sites, I take a personal pride in ensuring that everyone enjoys their stay at our house – it is not a rental income property but our home. As a result, we go out of our way to make sure that guests appreciate the island and our house as much as we do. In fact, not only have many prior guests become friends post stay but I keep in constant contact with guests while at our villa who often share pictures and emails of their stay while they are at our home. I am sorry that this experience was not the same for you despite the repeated effort on my part to reach out to you. So, let’s address a few of the things in your review. While we are on two acres of land and on a hill, there are indeed local animals that roam free on the island (although not on our property). The fact that you hear donkeys braying or roosters is part of island life wherever you might stay in the Caribbean and it is what brings the charm and local flavor of any island. Nevis is no different. Hearing local animal sounds would be the same as if you were staying in a city and expect to hear traffic noise. With regard to being hot, I tried to contact you multiple times to see how we could address the issue by offering to buy additional fans but did not hear back so I am sorry that you chose to sleep outside while the rest of your family who were staying at the house slept in the two bedrooms. For clarity, the ceiling fans – common in most houses on the island – are only a few years old. To your point, there are no windows to close because, unlike any other house on the island, the windows are open with screens and security protection so the wind does blow off the ocean – our house is very unique in that way. It is unfortunate that the air and wind was very still for a few days during your stay but we have since bought additional floor fans for the rooms which are now at the house for each bedroom even though we have not had this for 20 years of rentals. With regard to the comments on appliances: 1. We DO have a washing machine. There is a line outside for drying – almost every house that I know of on the island does not have a dryer but if you had laundry, Tessie would have been more than happy to do it for you. 2. We do NOT have a microwave. As you may have seen, we are very conscious of making sure that everything in the house is natural and organic - from the toiletries and shampoos provided to the actual beds themselves. Tessie cooks everything from local organic ingredients (some of which we even ship in for the guests) so we don’t require a microwave but do provide a toaster oven for re-heating. I have three more things to add: I would like to say that you are the first guest we have had in 20 years to not abide by one of our primary house rules of NOT smoking. Smoking a cigar was disrespectful. As required by VRBO, you indicated in your rental that it was only two people staying in the villa. There were more than that. While having additional guests does not matter, not informing me does. Not letting us know or asking if that was all right was disrespectful. I arranged a rental car for you for which you did not have the courtesy of letting the rental car people know where you had left it upon leaving the island. This is not Hertz but a family run car rental business. Abandoning the car without telling them the location of the car when you left the island and leaving the windows open with the keys in the ignition was disrespectful.

Lovely Stay at Moon Hill

Publié le 8 févr. 2024 sur HomeAway
Jonathan paid attention to every detail from transport from the airport to the water taxi, to transportation to the Villa. The portfolio of information he put together is the most complete and helpful we have ever received. Jonathan checked in with us before, during, and after our stay. For this, we are grateful. The views from the property are stunning and the location is close to some of the best restaurants on the Island. We enjoyed meeting Tessie and she cooked us some lovely meals. All in all an excellent experience at Moon Hill. Pierre and Sara.

Lovely Home with Sea and Mountain Views

Publié le 4 févr. 2024 sur HomeAway
My friend and I had a lovely stay at this just right-sized villa with sea views from the front and mountain views from the back of the property. The beds are comfortable and the home has updated furrnishings and a large bathroom. There is ample outdoor seating. Moon Hill is toward the windward side of Nevis, so driving to the more popular beaches is about a 20 minute ride. There is a large supermarket just down the road and plenty of restaurants nearby, however. Jonathan was full of recommendations of things to do and see. And unlike most other rentals, there are ample seasonings and staples in the kitchen as well as a housekeeper to cook for you! Enthusiastically recommend.

One of our best vacations ever!

Publié le 15 août 2023 sur HomeAway
We had a ten-day stay. From arrival to departure, the property, ambiance, location and amenities were to die for. Another special plug for this incredible property is that it came with the services of a cook three days a week. That value alone, was priceless, as it allowed us to settle in and focus on adventure, relaxation and renewal. The property is located on a large piece of land that allowed for near total privacy. It had several spots with beautiful mature trees for writing and meditation. Our one regret was wishing we had brought a hammock. We had many days of watching the sunrise over the Caribbean sea and the sunset over Mt. Nevis. Nature and its beauty could be viewed and experienced from the two bedrooms, living/ dining room, kitchen, bathtub and incredible pool, veranda and gazebo. The property manager Jonathan was amazing and generous. He had a zoom call with us prior to our trip and answered all emails promptly. He provided great local suggestions that made for one of our best vacations ever. The cook Tessy cooked up the storm and nurtured our beings with eye catching, nutritious and fresh meals. It was hard to leave Nevis and this property fondly known as Moon Hill. As the saying on the metal gate says - Carpe Diem (Cease the moment), we are planning to cease the moment and return in 2024. Thanks for the memories.
