Nightmare

My wife and I are touring Australia and have had a wonderful experience with the exception of this place. Arriving from Melbourne on a 39 degree day (Celsius) we found the office to be closed. After waiting for a while in the heat, an agitated and rude gentlemen let us in to the office to check in. It was shocking how unfriendly this guy was and when when we told him we had booked with Expedia, his disdain worsened. The gentlemen informed us that he needed payment up front for the room and when we told him it was our understanding that we had already paid Expedia, he became irate. When we tried to show him on our Expedia app on our phone, he rudely grabbed my wife's phone from her. We then found there was zero wifi and no cell signal so it was not possible to verify our payment. At this point the gentlemen left the office. We waited for a while and decided to find another place to stay. There is absolutely no excuse for this type of behavior.

I am disappointed to read Gabe’s review, however our view of events is somewhat different. We are a very small boutique property and do not have the luxury of a full time person sitting in Reception all day. However there is clearly signed intercom phone adjacent the door which reaches staff directly. We are never more than a couple of minutes away from Reception. Gabe arrived, from what we could tell, at the same time as some other guests. Perhaps Gabe had been standing on the shaded deck of Reception until the other guests arrived to use the intercom phone? Upon check-in Gabe did not wish to provide a credit card for payment and was insistent that they had already paid. We tried to explain that their booking was “Hotel Collects Payment From Guest” and they had not been charged and needed to pay for their booking. We even showed them the Expedia email confirming this. We use the Hotel Collect payment method with the physical card upon check-in as it is more secure and also some guest prefer us to charge a different card on arrival. Doubting our information, they proceeded to check their booking information on their phone. We were not aware that rather than having a snapshot or the like of their booking information on their phone, they were attempting to access the internet. When it was apparent they were having difficulty, we offered to assist and found that they were trying to connect to the internet via our secure internal network. We explained that the correct WiFi access point to use was “Guest WiFi” and that a free voucher code was required – which we provided to Gabe. They then proceeded to login to the internet. While they were doing that we escorted the other guests, who arrived at the same time, to their room and in less than 5 minutes returned to reception to assist. However Gabe had left.

Amazing location, felt like we were a million miles from anywhere. Staff were fabulous, very obliging and friendly. Certainly a holiday to remember.

Loved the area. The view was beautiful. The accommodation was very comfortable and great to have a washer and dryer to do our laundry during a long trip away.
