Pratt Lake cottage
Publié le 12 oct. 2024 sur HomeAwayPerfect place for a birthday/spa weekend. Cottage was clean. Well appointed. Close to Gladwin and Riverwalk Place. Highly recommend the Peppermill restaurant for breakfast and the Riverwalk Grill for dinner. The Oasis spa was wonderful.

Over priced for what you get.
Publié le 23 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayWater smells awful. Bathroom way too small, if you’re over 5’8” 160 lbs forget it. No extra blankets/pillows. Lack of cleaning supplies. Poor lighting except the very small bathroom. Beautiful view of the lake, although no access, so forget using the kayaks. Nice supply of dry firewood. Lack of basic amenities.

I’m so sorry that your experience at Pratt Lake Place wasn’t as enjoyable as we’d hoped. You’re right—the view of Pratt Lake is truly beautiful!
I was surprised to hear about the water smell, as there is a water softener at the cottage, and we changed the filter just a few weeks before your arrival. We’ll double-check to see if there’s anything further we can do to address this.
We added extra kitchen lighting in the spring, but we understand everyone has their own preferences, and we always appreciate feedback to help us improve.
Unfortunately, nature has been tough on Pratt Lake this year, which has lowered the water levels have made it more challenging to enter the water directly in front of the cottage with the kayaks. To set the right expectations, we’ve updated the listing to describe the property as water-view rather than waterfront.
Thank you for sharing what you enjoyed and what could have been better. Your feedback helps us make the experience as positive as possible for future guests.

Perfect Getaway
Publié le 1 sept. 2024 sur HomeAway Check in process was extremely professional with constant communication leading up to my stay. Place was virtually like a fully remodeled modern house with old cabin like touches. Nice quiet backyard with nice view of the lake.

A beautiful little cabin!

The access to water is a little more convoluted than the listing or pictures suggest, especially since the little outlet of lake is stagnant (not the owners fault at all). Unfortunately, the shower handle for hot water broke during our stay, leaving us with no way to bathe which was unfortunate. The management company and host did respond promptly, but it was frustrating to not be able to shower.

Weekend Getaway
Publié le 4 août 2024 sur HomeAwayHome is NOT on Pratt Lake. Lake picture is NOT accurate! First time I have ever felt scammed by VRBO listing. No access other than pubic launch. Neighbor has dammed inlet and it is now nothing more than a muck, leaf filled tiny pond.
Interior upgrades of home are very nice. Interior listing and pictures are accurate.
BRING LOTS OF DRINKING WATER … water is not drinkable and smells very, very strong of sulfur (rotten eggs)! Gladwin area is nice highly recommend Merry Hearted Cidery.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed the Gladwin area, but I’m truly sorry that your experience at Pratt Lake Place didn’t meet your expectations. As a small, family-owned business, it’s never our intention to misrepresent any of our homes, and I really wish we could have spoken during your stay. We would have been more than happy to move you to a property that better fit your vision for your summer weekend getaway.
You’re absolutely right about the changing water levels. While the property is legally considered waterfront (and we do pay waterfront taxes), the lower water levels have made it challenging to use the kayaks as originally intended. This has been further complicated by the neighbor’s damming of the inlet, which restricts water flow and access. Given these changes, we now advertise the property as "lake view" to better reflect the current situation.
On a brighter note, I’m glad you appreciated the interior upgrades! The water filtration system is in place to address the hard well water, and we’re pleased to offer triple-filtered drinking water for added convenience.
Again, I’m truly sorry for the disappointment. We’d love the opportunity to provide you a better fit for your next getaway.

Cute clean cabin

Amazing Retreat!

We were pleasantly surprised that we did not find one bug in the cottage throughout our entire stay During our stay, the canal was dried up which made it difficult to use the kayaks, but that's on Mother Nature. There were plenty of extra blankets and a cute electric fireplace - the TV's firestick made it easy to log in to our streaming services too. The Wi-Fi was strong and we never had an issue with cellular service when connected. The cottage is near an amazing ice cream parlor which was a family favorite. It's safe to say we will be staying here again!
