Unfortunate Stay
Publié le 15 janv. 2023 sur HomeAwayThe problem with this rental is a lack of adequate heat. We arrived on a bitterly cold December night a few days before Christmas. Our two adult children stayed with my dad at his house in Goldthwaite and my husband and I rented this house for ourselves,
A cold front had blown in. The temperature that night and for the next couple of nights would get down to around 12 degrees. The house was frigid and, to our dismay, there was no central heat. The listing had not indicated that there was only a wood stove in an alcove in the living room, a small space heater for the rest of the house and another space heater for the master bedroom. The man who opened the house for us lit a fire in the wood stove and explained that we would need to buy more bundles of wood and would need to put a new log in the stove every hour or hour and a half to keep it going. This didn’t seem practical to me.
The house was so cold, I could not stay there. I had to spend the rest of my time in Goldthwaite at my dad’s house. My children, of course, continued to stay at their grandad’s. My husband did spend a couple of nights at the house, but could only sleep a few hours each night due to the lack of adequate heat.
At some point, we called the owner to explain the situation and to see if we might get at least a partial refund since we couldn’t really use the house. This seemed to infuriate him. He wouldn’t talk to us, but did send angry messages with unfounded accusations, such as accusing both me and the children of sleeping at the house. We did not. He called us “liars” and “cheaters”. We are not. This accusation was particularly hurtful and distressing. I’ve stayed at a number of vacation homes, including VRBO rentals, and have only received 5 star ratings. This experience, however, was different , upsetting and unpleasant.

I'm upset again. Because you tried to cancel on day 6 of your 7 day trip. Like I said you texted me and I clearly responded back promptly. Even sent the house manager back 2x. Again if you would of called on day 1 or 2 it would of just resolved it. Instead your husband decided to use the house. Sleep in all beds. Drink coffee spill it all over. Not throw away trash as instructed.
Also I explained that I never received any payments. You booked the home on VRBO. You paid VRBO. How am I supposed to give a refund ?
I communicated more than 7 times. I have all text and your husband's voicemail.
The storm is something I can't predict or have any control.
I am nice and cozy in the home with space heaters and I see no reason to give a refund to a person who checked in. And stayed until day 6 started a frivolous refund.
Pictures are proof. I'm sorry you had a unpleasant experience. Again. I'm not in charge of weather. I provided adequate heating and service.
I'm very upset I trusted you in our family home. And the lack of following rules. And the fact you want a refund after 7 days of your husband sleeping and using the wifi as his personal office. Also he mentioned that the kids came over as well.
So you booked for 2 and then brought 4. I mean again you tried to cheat and lie . Then you lie and say it was too cold and you did not stay here. Read what you wrote.
The best part of all of this. Ready VRBO agreed with no refund. But again you decided that you are going to go a step above by charge back of your credit card.
That is ultimate dirty. Credit card charge back. So I have forwarded all text. All pictures to prove with this review that you admit you stayed here. And you committed fraud for credit card charge back .
Just overall a bad person to deal with.
