First of all, we apologize that we were unable to resolve the issues to Ram's satisfaction. The guest is right, there were spiders, and we sent the housekeeper to remedy it, and she did find a couple. But apparently she missed one under the bed. We agree that is unacceptable, and we refunded the guest's cleaning fee in full. However, we disagree with use of the term "infestation." It was not an infestation, it was apparently three or four spiders, and while we did tell the guest that spiders are very common in the forest and that there are no poisonous ones to be found in our vicinity, we did not use the word "infestation," we did not tell him that infestations are to be expected, and we wish to assure our guests that this was an honest mistake by a housekeeper who has worked for us for ten years with very few complaints (our other reviews will show that). As for the comments about things being "tired" and "overdue for renewal," we feel that this guest is "piling on" in order to attempt to extract maximum pain with this review. After his departure, he asked for a sizeable monetary settlement in exchange for not posting a bad review, and we declined to pay it. Again, there was a legitimate issue there with the spiders and, as the guest mentions, we did have to send a repairman to the house to fix the refrigerator while he was there, and we don't wish to minimize those issues. But we actually get many, many compliments on how well the decor ties the place together. The couches and beds are all from Jordan's, and while some of the style is rustic, absolutely everything is clean and comfortable. This criticism is, we feel, and 99% of other reviewers who have stayed there evidently feel, unfair.
