The charm of the place is how old it is, at the same time modernization is welcome in some areas. No dish washer. Really not much in the way of plates ect. The living room furnishings need alot of help. You certainly could have nice clean furniture to look old but isnt, not comfortable for lounging at all. The bathroom rugs have no backing and are very slippery. The lighting is not good. No cable tv. The double bed is too small for a couple. I dont like the cobwebs. And didnt care for the waterbugs. The house does not smell good at all, smells like an antique store, plug ins would be great. The decor is antique but not nice antiques. I would love to redo that place, it could be really great

I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay. Hh isn’t for everyone. It definitely does not have modern conveniences like a new home. It does have some cracks for little bugs to sneak in. I routinely have an exterminator spray (inside and outside) to keep as much bugs at bay but there will always be something in a 130 year old house! I wish you would have read the details and looked at the pictures before booking. As stated in the description, I have noted a full size bed and two twin beds, (due to small rooms I have to have small beds) I do not provide a dishwasher, I have antenna tv and prime video (really who watches cable anymore?!), and my “not nice” antiques are visible throughout the listed pictures. I have an eclectic collection for people to enjoy and anticipated for heavy use. I do not want to have fine antiques or display expensive collections in a rental as they may break or end up missing. The space is designed for short term rental and according to many people, love staying here. But I totally get that it isn’t for everyone. I’m sorry I do not allow pets (which is stated in my description) and I feel like I was pretty easy going with the ruined towels situation. Y’all could have left them as is and not even pay for them…it was up to you and I appreciate you paying for part of the replacements. I feel like those two situations left a bad taste in your mouth and lead you to write a “meh” review.

Charming PERFECTION!!

We booked it and it was PERFECT. Charming, adorably decorated and COZY.
We fell in LOVE with the place and will DEFINITELY be back!!!

Loved the HH Cottage

54th Wedding Anniversay Trip
Publié le 1 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayEach year, My wife and I celebrate our Wedding Anniversary with a stay at a unique accommodation. We both enjoy Granbury, which prompted our search for a rental property there. We found HH on the VRBO site and made our reservations after viewing the information there. We enjoyed the quiet location coupled with the rustic preservation of the place. The back porch and rocking chairs were very peaceful especially as it rained every day of our visit. Our host provided precise and accurate information on locating and accessing our rental.
All in all our choice did not disappoint. We would suggest an instruction sheet for the TV as we were puzzled for some time before stumbling through to get access to view movies. Nice stay for us!
