worse hotel ever
Publié le 13 août 2020 sur HotelsThis is the worse hotel I have ever stayed. They claim to be a 4 stars hotel but actually it is more like a 2 stars hotel at the price of a 4 stars hotel. I booked this hotel on hotel.com and paid 189 euros a night for a standard room with sea view. When we arrived at our room we were shocked. The room is outdated, the bed and the pillow are hard as rock and the sea view is more like a dumpster view than sea view ( See pictures by yourself) Since we did not like our room right from the start I paid for an upgrade thinking it will be better and we will have a pleasant stay. The receptionist recommended the the suite room and sold us that room had a Jacuzzi. Of course you have to pay for the extra charge for the room before you can see it. So we paid. The room was definitely bigger but poorly and outdated furnished. The Jaccuzy is just a Joke and the view, well we have the same view of the dumpster and the sea far away.
Now for the service. Well let put it this way, the owners are pretentious and they treat the few staffs (One receptionist, two waiters and one chambermaid) more like slave than employees. During our 4 night stay we saw the same waiters from breakfast (starting at 8 am), all day and night (if they lucky they finish service at around midnight). This what I called modern slavery. I would like to disclose that I am also a business owner in the service industry in France and to me I cannot image doing this to my employees. This Unacceptable and I don't know what is

Dear valuable guests,
In response to the review received from Mr. Guerin, we would like to clarify the below.
First of all, we would like to mention that we operate since 2006 and it is the first time that we are facing a guest like this one!!! The rudeness and the offensiveness of Mr. Guerin to Lagos Mare's staff was something that we never faced before.
Of course we have to handle every guest with understanding and sympathy as we always do, however it is impossible to act this way with someone that cursing and insulting the staff of our hotel because there was a charge for their coffees!
Mr. Guerin "forgot" to mention his behavior to our staff! He used phrases that we can not write down or express through here just because we informed him that the breakfast has ended at 11:00am. He was demanding free breakfast and free drinks at 11:20. We offered him complimentary breakfast, even our cuisine was closed by that time and we tried to explain to him that our hotel like all the hotels globally has rules.
As far as the price is concerned, we offered the guest upon arrival an upgrade with extra daily charge of 30 euros instead of 70 and he accepted that AFTER he inspected the Suite. The feedback given from his side to the reception was that he liked the room and he would like to proceed with the upgrade.
After cursing and insulting the staff Mr. Guerin felt sympathy for them and offered them job to his restaurant!
We respect our staff as we respect our valuable guests. Our staff is the most valuable asset of our hotel and our online reviews reflect that, something that Mr. Guerin mentioned as "Sh@t people" and "f@#$% service"!
We invest in higlhy qualified professionals in all our positions with ongoing training throughout the years and this is the reason that the majority of our staff works for us many years. It is not worth to mention that Mr. Guerin is lying about the working hours and the number of our staff, as our people do not work for more than 9 hours daily and they are all very well paid, because we respect their efforts!
The photo taken from Mr. Guerin is zoomed and showing Agios Prokopios Village. A typical cycladic village. Lagos Mare Hotel is located 350m away from the beach (Agios Prokopios) one of the best beaches in Europe.
As we take under serious consideration every feedback received, we always try to improve ourselves.
However, this specific review can not be evaluated as the person made that was aiming only to harm our reputation for 2 coffees that he wouldn't like to pay for.
We hope your staff Mr. Guerin to be as happy as ours and treat them as we do!

We enjoyed our stay at Lagos Mare. The staff was very hospitable and helpful and provided great advice on what areas to visit on the island. The property was clean and conveniently located at a bus stop, near grocery stores and restaurants and within walking distance to Agios Prokopios Beach . I would this property.

We visited the island of Naxos - I know this island very well. The property was not well located - involved a lot of walking ( several times a day) into town/beach.
The reason I scored it low - I made the reservation so I could Pay At Property ( an option given by Expedia/ Hotels.com - the operator took full payment out for entire stay one month ahead.
I spoke to the owner regarding this issue and he advised me that they did not comply with Expedia.
I feel strongly that my contract with Expedia/ Hotels.com was not honored. When the funds were taken out one month in advance, I contacted Expedia - heard nothing back from them.
If you want to pay at hotel, Do Not Stay At This Property - they will take payment in full one month before you arrive.

Dear Catherine,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While we're pleased to hear that you enjoy the beauty of Naxos and your stay in our Hotel, we'd like to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you experienced with the payment process. We understand the value of convenience and flexibility in booking travels, and we lament that your expectations for pay-at-property were not met. However, we would like to clarify that this could not be handled from our side as it was the provider that was not displaying accurate information about the payment procedure as we clearly explained to you during your stay. Unfortunately, your communication with Expedia one month prior to your arrival was never addressed to us in order for everything to be clarified and handled then. We will certainly look into this matter and explore how we can better align our practices with those of our booking partners like Expedia and Hotels.com. We are committed to the satisfaction of our visitors and are hopeful that if you choose to visit Naxos again, Lagos Mare will be chosen for your accommodation.
