Belle maison

Idéale pour une pause de quelques jours.
Le village n’est pas très vivant mais propose quand même deux tavernes excellentes.
Les propriétaires sont extrêmement gentils et proposent des fiches avec une multitude d’idées de sites et de plages isolées à découvrir. L’accueil est très chaleureux.
Nous y avons passé 1 semaine en Août, la maison est petite pour 4.
Le printemps doit être incroyable pour marcher dans la montagne au milieu des senteurs.
Ne pas manquer de voir le jardin de Althãea et les produits maison à la sortie du village !

Dear Antoine thank you for this great review. Yes I agree the Smaragda House is a little bit small for 4 persons for a long stay. But we are planning to extend it to the lot in front with a second bedroom and a grand terrace with Jacuzzi and fantastic views to the sea. Look for it in a couple of years it must be ready. You will always be welcomed to our houses.

Autumn getaway

The house is beautifully restored and it has everything you need for a pleasant holiday getaway. The village of Anatoli is quiet and calm. There are great paths to walk in the vicinity and if you have a car, you can spend a nice day in the beach nearby in Mirthos or Tertsa. And there’s plenty more to see around the region. Thanks again for your hospitality, Ioanna! We’ll be back next year!

Liebevoll gestaltet
Publié le 12 juin 2022 sur HomeAwayDas Haus selbst ist wunderbar eingerichtet und mit viel Liebe zum Detail gestaltet. Die Umgebung ist es die uns von 5 Sternen abhält. In dem Dorf stehen ringsherum verfallene Häuser was den Gesamteindruck deutlich verschlechtert. Auch nerven im Laufe der Tage die Entfernungen. Egal wohin Du fährst,es stehen Dir unendlich viele Kurven und enge Straßen bevor.

Thank you for the excellent comments about my house. I am sorry it bothered you so much the dilapidated houses of Anatoli. On the other hand I am sure you enjoyed the absolute peace and quietness due to the semi inhabitation of this historic village. In fact this village was fully inhabited 70 years ago but after the civil war was embadonned. We are trying now to rehabilitate it with restorations and renovations. It also dates from Byzantine period and even from antiquity with new found monuments in the hill behind it. As for the narrow streets it is the interland of Crete and doesn't have wide streets but the old paths that were widened to become roads. To most of my guests this is the advantage getting to capture the inside view of Crete.

An enjoyable stay!

The rooftop terrace is perfect for warmer days, with a panoramic view of the village and the sea. Ioanna, the owner, was very helpful with many kind recommendations for places to visit and places to eat. The village is picturesque and quiet, with friendly residents. There are good walks nearby, including one to a monastery chapel with medieval frescoes (about 2km from Anatoli). Anatoli is an excellent base from which to explore the eastern part of Crete. The surrounding country, above the crop-growing areas, is beautiful, unspoilt and full of wildflowers.

A little gem

We loved the property. It was just the right mixture of off the beaten track and close enough to civilisation if you wanted to take part. The property itself is in a small village, 15 minutes drive up a mountain, with spectacular views. The beauty being that after the very hot day, it would be cool enough to get a break from the heat.
Our time spent in this part of Crete was visiting local places of interest and towns; the many blue flag beaches nearby; sampling the very good food at various Tavernas. The list is endless and we were never stuck for something to do. Ioanna, the owner would regularly inform us of tourism tips, which made us feel very well looked after.
Ioanna has created a beautiful property, inside and out, with great attention to detail. We had the choice of sitting upstairs on one deck, overlooking the beautiful coast, or sitting outside downstairs. And for the very hot times, always a sun umbrella.
The property is well supplied, we were able to make simple meals bought using produce bought locally. In the local area - we were very near quite a large town, Ierepetra - there are a lot of supermarkets; bakeries and fishmongers. By the end of the two weeks knew them all quite well. The choice is very good.
I would highly recommend this property if you are a couple who enjoy being somewhere that has character and enjoy independent travel. I would definitely return, question is when?!
