Centipedes and fleas
Publié le 16 août 2024 sur HomeAwayOne star. This accommodation looks exactly like the picture and you get mesmerized by the view but do not be fooled like me. This is my first and last time booking through VRBO. All of the reviews are from non summer months and the listing does not fully disclose that there is no air conditioning. So it being August made it very hot. If the listing would have disclosed no air conditioning, I would have re considered booking. The entire house is open, even if you close the windows, hot air and bugs can still get into the inside. It took us till the end of our stay to discover that there are fleas in this property in the mattress. My husband and I had over 100 bug bites on our body. I bled on the sheets because I itched so bad and was afraid that the host would charger me for this. Yet the host does not live on site or maybe in St. Lucia so they will be of no help at all. There is a bug net (with holes) but there are all sorts of moths and other bugs actively trying to eat it. We found two venomous centipedes inside because there are so many places for it to get into. It was after midnight and there was literally no other hotel to stay in so we slept in our car. I would rather sleep in my car than around a bug that could potentially kill me. Be VERY weary of booking this property because it is not as it seems. The same goes with the rules. The owner will send you 6+ pages of rules after booking, most of which are not mentioned on the page prior to booking. Not only was the expe

VRBO’s Health and Safety team reviewed our report submitted in response to Jasmine’s claim for a refund. They found no basis for her claims and closed the case - then discovered that she had initiated a full charge-back with her financial institution which VRBO is disputing on our behalf. Our report provided receipts showing regular pest control inspection and maintenance visits for 2024 and throughout 2023, the most recent in July 2024 just before Jasmine’s arrival. Photos showed our new mattress protected by a zippered cover; the guests who stayed immediately before Jasmine left a 5-star review on Airbnb; the VRBO dashboard showed that we flagged the rainy season brought the possibility of mosquitoes. Our cottage is fully screened with bed-nets but we also provided tips for protecting against mosquitoes outdoors. Despite the horrible experience alleged Jasmine completed her 5-night reservation. She had phone numbers and email for me, my property manager and housekeeper in St Lucia and never raised a single concern instead telling the housekeeper on property that her stay was good. I provide many messages to our guests related to fun things to do, grocery shops, restaurants, banks, safety and so on to support preparations for their visit. These are not new rules. Having spent a 5-day holiday at our home Jasmine is trying to extract a fully paid vacation at our expense. This is dishonest. We feel fortunate that VRBO is disputing the charge back. I am proud of our status as Première hosts with VRBO and Super-host with Airbnb and are thankful that most guests are decent and honest. I invite you to read our wonderful reviews on Airbnb and VRBO. And – while we have powerful ceiling and standing fans - happy to note by December 1st 2024, AC will be installed!

Perfect honeymoon house
Publié le 3 mars 2024 sur HomeAwayMy wife and I spent 8 glorious nights at Len’s wonderful, romantic cottage. The view is stunning. The memory of waking up and spending our mornings on the porch with the sun illuminating the island and the birds for company will stay with us forever. Showering while looking over the bay. Falling asleep to the song of the crickets. This was our first visit to St Lucia and we can’t wait to return.
Easy access to the beach at Pigeon Island (highly recommend Jambe de Bois restaurant there) and a reasonable walk to Gros Islet for authentic local food, groceries, etc.
If you are disinclined toward the all-inclusive, resort-style vacation, this is a great fit for you. Our host was gracious and available to quickly answer our questions despite being out of the country.

Publié le 7 oct. 2023 sur HomeAwayProperty exactly as advertised. View and nightly sunsets was exquisite. Even though you are isolated you feel very safe. Security system and an actual person who stops twice a week and really checks. I would definitely come again, altho when temps might be lower. Heat on this trip was definitely over powering.

Lori was a lovely guest to host ! But her visit to the tropics coincided with an unprecedented heat wave felt in many parts of the world - including the Greek islands were unprecedented heat set off fatal fires not only there but across swathes of Europe, Hawaii , and elsewhere. Fortunately - the islands did not experience that level of heat - but even so - long time local residents across the Caribbean - for the first time complained of heat levels which are not normal for us. Climate change is certainly making for extreme weather events - drought, floods, heat, more frequent storms - around the world . September for example was the hottest on record since the 1800’s in Europe. Here in the Caribbean, while July and August are our warmest months - it is not normal for us to be afflicted by very hot temperatures. Fortunately - we have entered the cooler months of October through June and respite is in the offering . Last December a few of our guests recommended that we stock light blankets since the evenings were cool enough to warrant them! This year is also a period of the El Niño weather system which makes for more extreme air and sea temperatures. Since we do not expect an El Niño event next year we are hopeful that life in the tropics trends as expected in non El Niño years!

Amazing views and awesome outdoor shower!
Publié le 1 août 2023 sur HomeAwaySaint Lucia is an incredible island with so much to offer. This spot has a cozy rustic bungalow feel, with an incredible view of Rodney Bay and Pigeon Island. The shower has an open ceiling (screened in) and wide windows that open so you can see the ocean. We had many beautiful sunsets and morning breakfasts from the deck.
The first time driving up the access road is intimidating- you definitely need a high clearance 4 wheel drive. Anything else will bottom out- and really need this to feel comfortable driving the rest of the island. Some of our favorite spots were Joes at Pigeon Beach, Jamb de Bois, and Smugglers Cove. There are many geckos around/in the house, and sometimes they leaving small droppings- so if that is something you don’t mind this spot is perfect. Len was a great host! Thank you for sharing your home with us.

We thank Alexandria for her fabulous review! And while geckos have been mentioned , (and we note that they are not harmful to humans) we were a bit surprised since previous guests have not raised this an issue. We nonetheless took the opportunity to seek guidance from our pest control provider who services our cottage every quarter. The company notes that the outdoor rather than the indoor environment is the natural habitat for these small lizards who prey on insects, so that venturing indoors would not be their normal practice. However, we understand that there are some natural scents which geikoes do not like which we had applied in a precautionary manner to the main door entry - since other areas are screened. We are happy to note that housekeeping have not reported any further visits:) The tropics provide a wonderful environment in which to live - both for humans and the array of tropical flora and fauna which together make up this type of ecosystem. However, while lizards for example - consider mosquitoes to be prey - which is good news for keeping the latter in balance - we prefer that they stay outdoors:). Our first goal is to make sure that our guests are comfortable.

A cute cottage with a view to die for
Publié le 25 mars 2023 sur HomeAwayWe loved this place. You could spend days just watching from the porch the boats and cruise ships out on the Caribbean. It is a short walk down to the beaches at Pigeon Island. You can lie in the sand, float in the bay, buy drinks off little boats that visit the beach, take a water taxi across the bay to lots of restaurants (go to the French place). At least once make reservations at the Naked Fisherman, great food and drinks right on the water. The staff and Len, the owner, are really helpful. The cottage itself is very pleasant for a couple and has lots of charm. The hot water is hot and the shower is great for rinsing off the salt from the beach. At night most of what you hear is the surf rolling in. The location, for being up on the hill, is convenient to Rodney Bay and beyond. The cottage has all kinds of flowers growing around it which draw hummingbirds. For breakfast go to 7th Heaven Café and bakery.
We look forward to being back.

Publié le 9 janv. 2023 sur HomeAwayReally enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Perfect size for the 2 of us. Amazing view from the front porch. Len was extremely communicative before and during our stay with a ton of info about the area. Would definitely stay there again!
