We were upgraded to the family room, which was great, the only concern was going up and down the steep staircase having to access the kitchen and bathroom, and there is no TV in the bedroom. Something I did not see mentioned in the reviews I looked at was that the nearest shops are 20km away, in Ysterfontein.

Grotto Bay Private Nature reserve encompasses the West Coast Guesthouse. This is a getaway place to relax, revive and restart.
All apartments, suites and rooms are selfcatering by which guests bring their own groceries of their choice in. The closest shop is in Mamre about 8km away.
Yes there where steps in your upgraded apartment which where accepted by yourselves when you choose this uograde which was 4 times larger in size of your initially booked space.
There is a tv in our bonis lounge area.

NO VOLUME CONTROL!
Publié le 18 déc. 2019 sur HotelsI did not gather from the advert by Hotels.Com that it was a room in the private residence of somebody. Whilst the room and amenities were satisfactory the owner spoiled the whole experience. She is loud and inconsiderate to the peaceful surrounds of the premises.

Thank you so much for booking at West Coast Guesthouse. It was our pleasure in hosting you.
We are very happy that you found your booked room and our amenities satisfactory and found our offering a place of peace. We see you also enjoyed our unspoiled sea views. All our comfortable apartments, suites and the delightful Couples Room in which you were accommodated are under one large roof.
My wife Angela as per other guests is one of the best hostesses they have encountered, locally and internationally. This can also be echoed by the friendly conversations and interactions that you yourself had with her.
We however need to apologise to you for breaking this peaceful atmosphere, for this we most humbly apologise.
As you would recall in one of your courteous engagements with Angela she abruptly left that conversation to take an urgent international call from Germany. She later told me she felt guilty in do this, but the call was a family matter in which her Italian mother was admitted to a German emergency hospital with a dire heart condition. The line was bad and this emotionally charged conversation in German was traumatically robust as one could imagine under the circumstances. We kindly ask you to pray with us as she is being operated on 23 December.
Having said that we sincerely hope we can make this up to you in some way when you care to book again.
