My wife and I arrived at the Hamilton Guest House at 6:00pm to a locked front door with a small note instructing us to ring the bell and if no one answered to telephone a number. We rang -- no one. We telephoned the number -- no one answered. Tried the bell, knocked, and telephoned again. Nothing.
Just as we were about to leave and call Hotels.com, an elderly lady answered the front door. She could only speak Chinese and grew frustrated that we could not understand her. Two teenage boys, texting in a darkened parlour gave us the number of the manager, whom we telephoned. She told us which room was our. Dazed and confused, we were shown to the 'President' room, which had obviously seen better days. There were no towels, which the lady then begrudgingly got for us, Tired and hungry, we went out for dinner.
Returning later that night, we had trouble getting in the front door because the combination number we had been given had been changed while we were out (!) and we were horrified to find that sheets on our made bed had not been changed from whoever had been there before. Disgusted and too late to find another hotel, we slept in our clothes.
A terrible experience. Service was terrible. The facilities weren't clean and we did not feel safe since there were uncommunicative men in the house who seemed to live there. We have stayed in a lot of hotels, B&Bs and guests houses over the years and this is the worst we've ever experienced. Not recommended at all.
