Thank you so much for staying and for the feedback. There was a brief and unusal outage in the area. Not sure of the cause but the power company resolved it within about an hour or so. There is an abandoned property next door that has fallen into disrepair. It is an eyesore but far enough away to be easily ignored. This is the first time a guest has mentioned it, so not a concern for most I'd say (although we are hoping something is done about it soon). The water comes from a well with a jet pump, which is not atypical of places like our cottage. The pressure is generally good but can drop when used in multiple places at once. Thanks, again. First I'll say that Jeremy and Tiffany seem like nice people. It's unfortunate they weren't happy with their stay. Most of our guests say the opposite. I'll address each of these issues individually. 1) No, it is not an isolated cabin in the woods. The proximity to neighbors is typical of what you'd find on most of the areas lakes and ponds. It is within about a 10 minute drive of downtown Bangor, one of Maine's largest cities, so I'm not sure what Jeremy means when he says it isn't really far or close to things. It is "tucked away" but not far from everything you might need. 2) There is a hot tub on the property that has never been offered for use. Prior to these guests this has never been an issue as we did not list it as an amenity and in fact noted in the description that it is not operational. A hot tub was not previously listed as an amenity and in fact we noted in the description that it is not operational. Somehow this was changed in the listing. Neither my wife nor I made that change. I told Jeremy that we would call VRBO to get to the bottom of it and if it was somehow something we did we would take responsibility and make it right. The only thing I can think of is that occasionally we get a call from a VRBO agent to go over our listing. They often ask for permission to update the listing. I can only think that an agent must've made this change. We have nothing to gain by inaccurately offering a hot tub as an amenity. I reached out to VRBO and the agent I spoke with informed me that me that he would escalate the issue and to expect a return call. I have followed up on this at least 3-4 times and was told to expect a return call each time. I have not. Understandably this is frustrating for the Days and I am sympathetic. However, I am waiting to hear back from VRBO on this as it appears to be an issue on their end and they need to take responsibility for it. 3)There is a ramp/stair system going down the small hill to the water. I would not describe it as very steep. It's fairly gradual. The dock was submerged because we had a hurricane hit our state for the first time in decades causing the pond's water level to rise to very high levels, very quickly. We tried to retrieve the docks after it passed so we could adjust them to above the water level but were unsuccessful. That should not have inhibited access to the lake. It is easily accessible from the shore. In fact we had not offered docks in the listing and haven't always had them there. We added them recently. I have not refused to work with these guests. Quite the opposite. I told them I intended to see it through to resolution but need to hear why this happened from VRBO so we can come up with a fair and reasonable resolution with the correct party taking responsibility.
