Formerly an old milk barn & milk parlor for the City of Harrodsburg, this newly restored unit features old world charm & all the modern amenities a guest could ask for. Harrodsburg, was founded in 1774 by a stalwart band of pioneers led by James Harrod, of Pennsylvania. It was the only “colonial” city and the first permanent English settlement west of the Allegheny mountains. Referred to as the “Birthplace of the West,” Harrodsburg has a proud and remarkable heritage.

This property was just what we needed. Very spacious. well-appointed and quiet. A little hard to find as it’s behind two other houses, but worth the search. Location also has many historic markers within walking distance, so we enjoyed a fun walk.

Four years ago we visited this area and loved the rolling hills, the quaint towns, Harrodsburg and Danville and, of course, Shaker Village. Then we were along the river and across from the Palisades. This time we chose to be closer in and stayed in the historic Milk Parlor and what a delight it was. It was equally as quiet as down at the river but only a short walk into town, which was part of our daily routine. We had all the comforts of home and we were surprised at the spacious accommodations, comfortable bed and well equipped kitchen, although this time we did more dinning out. We loved the Old Owl Tavern, and lunch and dinner at Shaker village. There was nothing lacking which made our 5 days there most memorable. We would love to return again someday and maybe we will!

We only stayed one night, but loved our time as a family here. We went to the local Kroger and picked up groceries and cooked a nice meal. We had everything we needed. Thoughtful touches included snacks and waters. Loved the decor. The bed was very comfortable. Quite spacious and it was nice to do our laundry. Quiet area and felt private. We would stay here again.

Great house for a family
This house was wonderful! There were 4 of us, our teenagers got separate beds with the twin futon and pull out underneath (both mattresses comfortable), which is always a plus! There was also a pull out sofa if needed. So many pillow and great blankets! Which is great if you are traveling. You will need to bring. Plenty of basic supplies (soap, trash bags, shampoo). Plenty of towels for our size. Could not ask for anything more from this listing! The area does not have a lot to do, be aware of that.

Quaint in historic district
What fun to stay in this cute place in this beautiful historic district of Harrodsburg! We enjoyed hearing the rain pelt the metal roof as we stayed secure and dry. Nice selection of games in the old bank safe. Comfortable beds and bedding. The owners thought of everything. Thank you for sharing.
