Delightful cottage
Publié le 20 sept. 2023 sur HomeAwayThis is a well equipped cottage which is in a rural position on the edge of the town, accessed by a short but unlit lane. It is a 15 minute walk into the High Street and there are plenty of countryside walks from the doorstep.

Several cobwebs on walls behind settees. Not well vacuumed.

A week in Hassocks
Publié le 6 mai 2023 sur HomeAwayWhere to start!
On arrival we could get the lock open and had to find the cleaning lady on the adjacent property. Parking is difficult, and there is a spike sticking out from the wall. To enter through the front door, you must first cross a muddy stream, and it is difficult to not track much into this property. The vestibule was a deposit area for UPS packages arriving and pretty much fill the space up. Finally it cleared by the end of the week. The property is actually on a small hill, though it looks like a flat road from the pictures. The surrounding area is actually quite beautiful.
The kitchen was very underequipped and the one and only way frying pan was oh

Hi William,
Thank you for your feedback.
We do follow a strict check-in time of 3 pm if there's a guest before you check in as our cleaner needs enough time to clean the property, unfortunately, when you arrive around 10-11 am, the cleaner is still at the property cleaning the house. We hope for your understanding.
Overall, we hope that you enjoy your stay.

Hosts who truly care!
Publié le 16 nov. 2022 sur HomeAwayExactly as described. A lovely English cottage in rural surroundings, but close to all the amenities of Hurstpierpoint and a short drive from Brighton. Comfortable living and dining rooms, well equipped kitchen and comfy beds. Loved the crisp white linen sheets, the huge bath towels and the nice hot showers. Toys and books for our 4 year old grandson, lovely artwork on the walls, we felt totally at home and loved staying here. We felt as though the hosts really cared about us and hadn’t skimped on providing a home that had everything we needed. Thanks everyone.

Disappointing
Publié le 11 oct. 2021 sur HomeAwayWe requested that the 2 single beds in the second bedroom be made into the King Size (we were offered this as an option). This did not happen so our friends had to sleep in single beds - it did not please them. The downstairs toilet light did not work so was out of action at night time. The upstairs shower was out of action because it leaked (we did know about that before). Communication with the agent was abysmal, she did not respond to messages. A stool and chair were broken on arrival. There were other problems which I have detailed and sent to the owners.

Hi Margaret, Unfortunately you left the cottage in a very poor state. The carpets were heavily stained and I had to have a professional carpet cleaner in to remove them. You changed your mind at very short notice about the bed arrangement and the cleaners had missed this so I do apologise for this oversight. We gave you a huge discount for this booking in advance of your stay or the option to cancel due to the shower leaking. After 2 weeks of closing the cottage, I’m pleased to say this has now been resolved with a brand new shower and enclosure fitted. With regards to communication, we have all our messages sent at certain trigger times. All communications were dealt with in a timely manner and the owner has met with myself to run through any outstanding minor detail that you have reported. Thank you for your feedback. We are always open to good or bad feedback. Many Thanks, Michelle Property Manager

Great place to stay for lovely local walks
Publié le 30 juill. 2021 sur HomeAwayWe really enjoyed our stay here. The lodge was quiet and secluded yet within walking distance of the high street at Hurstpierpoint. Well placed for visiting local attractions including Brighton which can be reached in 10 minutes from nearby Hassocks railway station. Best of all there are excellent walks straight out of the front door. Plenty of space for 5 adults.

What a Shame
Publié le 23 juin 2021 sur HomeAwayWe have been guests at many Home Away properties here and abroad and in many cases have returned on a fairly regular basis.
Danny Lodge is sweet house in a nice location.
We are a not so young couple and I was in Hassocks for reason of my job. The morning of the 9 June, the day I was travelling from Cirencester to set up a trade stand and see clients in the south east I received and email from our host which advised parking arrangements. It made reference to not parking on the drive to Danny House which I took on board. The rest of the note made no sense because I had never been there before.
There is only one very small parking space with the cottage.
The day of the exhibition I returned to the house with a car full of exhibition material in the evening, parked off the drive on some grass the far side of a cattle grid and took the dogs for a walk. I still could not fathom where the extra parking area was.
I returned to find our host talking to my husband. She had come round and asked to be let in the front door. My husband explained there was no key which she hotly disputed but she then went away and returned with it.
I was roundly told off for parking on the grass in the wrong place, so I suggested ( her partner is an architect so not a big ask) that it would be sensible to put a small plan in the email so that the parking area was clarified. The advisory note was not clear.
I have to say I was a little surprised to find our bedroom, the largest on of the three with a large bed looked out on to a wall of shingles which are about a metre away. I raised this point and the response was that we should have slept in the other bedrooms. One of these rooms had a single bed and the other smaller double. In fact when we booked a colleague was coming with us and staying so it was a somewhat puzzling response. Our host advised that this shows on one of the photographs. In my experience finding a shingle wall as your view is a little odd.
The cottage has no emergency lighting. The description describes the house as being ' next to' the owners property but is in fact a totally connected part of it separated by a hall.
Our host called me rude and arrogant which is fine.
We left the cottage clean and very tidy.
The follow up was a totally unjustified deduction of £40 from the £200 deposit as punishment.
I don't think we have any wish to return!

We have several complaints about you parking on neighbouring land ! This is totally unacceptable and a breach to our house rules. You ignored all written requests to move your car and you seemed to not understand very clear instructions which gives you exact details of where you should park. The way you reacted when asked to move the car was not what I would expect from any guest staying at our cottage. With regards to the view, you could have slept in the other double room over looking the countryside, so I am at a loss as to why you are giving us a bad review.

Peaceful and perfectly located for the South Downs
Publié le 2 janv. 2020 sur HomeAwayA well situated property, close to the town but in a very peaceful spot, which gave us easy access to the South Downs and some beautiful countryside. The property was well equipped and spacious and the arrangements for booking went like a dream. A real find for our short break!

Great!
