Not great for family stay

Posted Mar. 24, 2024 on Hotels
I cannot recommend this hotel for families, we had room 10 which is advertised as a family room for 3 guests, however what it does not tell you is that it is 2 rooms with a single and a double in with a fire escape between the two rooms! We were not comfortable leaving our young son in the single room as we would have to lock him in and sleep in a separate room some way down the hall, so we ended up moving the single mattress onto the floor in our room, which was not ideal and certainly we would no5 have booked this room if we’d have know this before booking. The breakfast was OK but on our second morning they had run out of many items and we were only one of two sets of guests staying here! This hotel is ok for couples, a little tired but not suitable for families

Treated like friends

Real home from home feel with quirky rooms all around the hotel. Louise went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. Chef Fred catered off the menu for my dietary requests, nothing was too much trouble. We spent a very relaxing 4 nights at the hotel and only ventured as far as the grounds. Very close to both Hastings and Rye, not that we felt the need to go to either. Highly recommended for anyone needing a relaxing break.

Lovely rooms and grounds - excellent manager

Posted Mar. 20, 2024 on Hotels
First of all the manager, Louise was excellent! Nothing was too much trouble. This is a lovely hotel with beautiful grounds we were unable to enjoy due to the weather. Our room was very quirky (no.1) but I think some people might have struggled with it. The bathroom, which is very tiny, is down a flight of steps and through a fire door. The room itself has a large trip hazard (beam) on the floor and at least 6 places where you could hit your head. This made bathroom night time visits tricky. Having said this we enjoyed the space of the room with two comfy chairs in front of the TV. The public rooms are lovely - two lounges and an Africa bar, all beautifully decorated. Breakfast and evening meal were good and we would stay again but maybe choose a different room.

This is a fascinating and quirky hotel with unique bedrooms and communal areas which are a feast for the eyes. The evening dining and breakfast options are truly a feast for the stomach. Lastly but not least the selection of drinks on offer are a feast for the palate….. Whats not to like ? Enjoy your stay, we did 👍

Excellent - would recommend

Booked this for my in-laws for their anniversary and they have been raving about it. Fabulous service, beautiful rooms and very happy in-laws! Great location and nearby woodlands are an added bonus. The breakfast was delicious but more than anything the staff were absolutely wonderful. 5*
