Can't Do Anything Right
I realize that it is Cuba but this place couldn't do anything correct. Since I was in Cuba for a triathlon, they knew I had a bike yet gave me a 4th floor room. Even the bellhop so tried to change this. The hotel wasn't full so realized that most of the rooms aren't usable. Despite being a tropical island they ran out of bottle water for several days. And weren't sure when they were going to get more. I made a scene and made the manager go to the store and buy some for me. The food was barely edible. Worse yet, it was the same things for every meal. Not variety whatsoever. (I ended up eating out because it was so bad.) And, even then, they couldn't do the little things like have serving utensils. Even for a poor country, this hotel was pretty terrible.

Booked a junior suite but non available when we checked in. Was resolved late the next day. The room was nice but air conditioning did not work. The pool was dirty and full of plastic cups. The food was average and the entertainment non existent. I realised I was paying for three star but got two star minus. Pay a little extra and get a nice hotel

The Acurio is staffed by nice folks working with old equipment. Hot water is internment, as is Air conditioning. The rooms are clean but dated, the breakfast buffet reflects the challenges of getting fresh food in Cuba.

General ambience was ok. Pool was good. Room ok but bed and sheets were not good. Sheets too small. TV did not work properly. General/public toilets were disgusting. A few staff were very good. Chefs not so good. Most staff werr not really interested and were just going through the motions. A government owned facility??

I had stayed here a year ago and this is why we went back because we felt it was good value. We arrived around midnight and were told we were in the new block. We got into the luggage van and were driven about 3 minutes down the road. The bell boy had to physically carry our luggage up 3 flights (no elevator) and the first thing my sister sees in her room is a cockroach! Decided to take a look at our room and stepped into a puddle of water - the a/c vent was dripping water. Went back to the reception and got shown to a couple of other rooms in the original building - again no elevator but this time we were just one floor up. The rooms were musty smelling but after struggling with the balcony doors got some fresh air into the room. However, as these rooms overlooked the pool area it was very noisy - even at about 2 a.m. in the morning! We did not have a phone in our room nor a hair dryer - I did not report this as we were tired of moving..... The cupboard in the room smelt awful and as soon as I got back I threw everything into the washing machine. Food: If you do not turn up early in the restaurant you will be greeted with a lot of empty serving bowls - they take a long time to refill. The pasta, freshly made is a safe bet! Drinks at poolside - out of coke so no cuba libres on one day. Not sure what else they ran out of but there were no mojitos for the last 2 days of our stay. Staff are friendly and cab driver Juan Carlos is the best!
