Great place to stay in Kaanapali

The property manager checked in several times to ensure our stay was going well, the check-in process was seamless, and our apartment was very clean. The location is just perfect. Having stayed in Maui nine times, this is the absolute best location. Right beside Whaler's village, and a few steps away from some of the best restaurants and shops on the island. Right on the beach, and also has a beautiful pool and hot tub with amazing staff. HIGHLY recommend! We will be back :)

We had a great stay!

Before booking I read through all of the reviews and decided to book based on the older reviews which are all really good. I trusted the owner when they said the issues in the most recent reviews were resolved. We didn’t encounter any problems during our stay, the owner was very communicative, the resort is stunning, the place is nicely remodeled and we plan to book again next year!

Owner needs to be more upfront with paying guests!
Publié le 19 mars 2023 sur HomeAwayThis unit has a rodent problem, do not leave food on the kitchen counters as you will find holes in plastic bags etc. Owner was notified and their response was to double the amount of traps that were existing in the room when we showed up. Clearly the owner knew of the issue. Unit is over-priced and payment terms are very one sided towards the owner. First bad experience we have ever had at the Whaler.

Disrupted Stay
Publié le 15 mars 2023 sur HomeAwayThe Whaler is a lovely, quiet complex. Although this condo has a few nice features like updated countertops and a nice ocean view, it was poorly maintained. Examples include: a moldy shower curtain and shower curtain liner, drapes with extensive mold and tape holding the hem up, unclean silverware, dirty toaster that needs to be replaced, a dresser in the closet the has a drawer with a broken base, significant carpet stains, and the presence of a rat-sized rodent that we encountered on our second night of our stay. The rodent chewed through two sealed plastic bags to get to unopened biscuits.
When we contacted the owner with our concerns the next morning following our rodent encounter, she was quick to send her cleaning service. The housekeeper replaced the shower curtain and set out rodent glue traps around the condo. Feeling uncomfortable staying in the condo with all the unresolved issues and a live rodent, we chose to vacate the premises and request a refund from the owner. We were charged for the two nights we stayed in the condo and refunded the remaining five nights of our reservation.

Nightmare!
Publié le 19 déc. 2022 sur HomeAwayUnit has been beautifully remolded, and appeared to be clean. Unfortunately it has a cockroach infestation! About day 2 of my stay I found a live cockroach climbing up my bath towel, there was also a dead one under a dresser! When I notified both cleaning staff and owners I was told that I was in the tropics and this happens. I have stayed in other units at this property before and have family and friends that stay here and have never had this issue. When you pay top dollar to stay in a high luxury resort you should NOT have to deal with cockroaches!!!! And be told that its because I'm in the tropics!!! This is unacceptable!! Also the owner gave me a very hard time when talking with her about this. I had every right to be upset! They told me they spray every 3 months. Well that's for maintenance, this unit is in need of treatment for infestation not maintenance it this point! They did refund me one night. But this was just the beginning. I ended up have to live with more cockroach's all 10 days of my stay!!! The last night I was there I had to try to sleep with all the lights on because I had found so many more cockroaches. I got no sleep that night!!! They gave me such a hard time the first phone call that I never called them again. This is not the way I wanted to spend my vacation! But I feel that I should have been refunded more because of such a nightmare of a stay in this unit.

We helped you with everything you asked for. We refunded one night stay, was there to help you at your requests. We were unable to make you happy with your stay. You were nice to our help and our help was there immediately. To give us this very sad one star review is very uncalled for and undeserving.
