Avis Oceanfront Cottage on a Quiet Cove Just Outside Lunenburg

Hi Chuck, Your hosts, Frank & Val, are very sorry you were disappointed with your stay at our Cottage on the Cove. Most people have written us very positive reviews and have enjoyed their stay. I have a few comments on your review: We have hired a professional lawn mowing team and they come on their schedule to mow when they are available and when the grass needs to be mowed. We do not control their schedule nor do we expect that we should have to. It takes them, normally, about 15 to 20 minutes to do our property and then they move onto the second property next door. I am sorry for the noise and inconvenience but at least it is short in duration and is for a necessary task. We were unhappy with our mowing team (the team that mowed while you were at the cottage) and have recently let them go and hired a new team that are more customer service oriented. I’m hoping our guests will have a better experience going forward. We apologize about the work being carried out next door. However, we cannot control what our neighbours are up to. Work on the building was to have been completed before the start of our season so as not to disturb our guests but it is behind schedule and some work is still ongoing. Most of the outside work is largely complete and work has moved inside but there is still some small amount of outside work to do. Again, we apologize for the noise and inconvenience. Ah, yes, the dreaded microwave. There is a very long story surrounding this microwave that I won’t get into here but suffice it to say it was out all last winter for repairs. We thought we weren’t going to get it back as the repair man had ghosted us but we contacted a different repair man and were able to get it back in a working state. He reinstalled it and had it operational before the start of our season. I am sorry to hear that it has broken again. This is the first I am hearing of this. We do have a backup microwave in the storage shed next door. If you had let us know about the broken microwave during your stay, we could have installed the backup for your use and convenience. As for the original microwave we will have it assessed ASAP and see if it needs further repair or if it simply needs to be replaced. We ask our guests to start a load of laundry (towels) before they leave as our cleaner has to wash all of the bedding and anything else that needs washing while she is onsite. We have a quick turnaround with guests checking out at 10:00 a.m. and new guests arriving at 4:00 p.m. Our cleaner does not have much time to get things spotless and laundry cycles are quite time consuming. If she had to do an extra load of laundry (towels) from start to finish her cleaning time would be much longer and we would have to charge a higher cleaning fee. In trying to keep costs down for our guests we ask that they simply start a load of towels before they leave (add soap powder and press the start button). This ensures our cleaner has time to get everything spotless for the next guests and helps control costs. I think you will also find that this request to start a load of towels before leaving is pretty standard / common in the Airbnb and VRBO industry as we are all trying to keep costs down for our guests. Again, we are very sorry you were not completely happy with your stay and we hope you give us another try in future. I can assure you the microwave will be fixed / replaced and things should be much quieter next door by then. Most people find the cottage a tranquil and relaxing getaway. We are very sorry you did not. Our apologies, Frank & Val
