Quiet and next to the water.
Publié le 12 août 2024 sur HotelsOne must keep in mind this is a very old property so you should not expect it to be in the best of condition. Having said that, the property is very quaint and located next to the river (The Chattahoochee is but a small creek running through Helen as these are the headwaters for the river) and located in a very quiet area at the end of a short roadway. I have stayed at this property many times since 1986 and though, as stated above, it is quite old today, the rooms are adequate for the region. There was black mold in the grouting of the shower and the linens are very basic. Although there is a “breakfast” area in the small lobby it consists mainly of cellophane wrapped “snack cakes” and two fruit juices and of course coffee. Do not, and I can’t express this strongly enough, expect anything hot (sausage, eggs, pancakes, waffles, etc.) to be served! You stay here for the few of the river and the quiet!

Stayed here because river was easily accessible (right outside door) and on property. Nice little beach and plenty of bench swings.
HOWEVER....bring you sleeping mask. The hallways (which are all outside) were EXTRMELEY bright with LED bulbs in front of each door and light filtered in at every crack and crevice and to make matters worse the curtains barely covered the windows making it impossible to even remotely get the room dark enough to sleep. We even tried covering window with extra blankets to no avail. Otherwise, enjoyed this property and would have given it 5 stars. Neither this or that....Pergo floors...keeps feet sandy. We prefer carpet.

The property was right on the river. The beds were amazing. Outside was very worn, but the room was updated. Excellent and friendly staff. The bathroom was covered in ants and my daughter made friends with a rat.
