Avis Brand new modern lake front cottage with hot tub!

Wow this review is very shocking! My very first bad review in over 200 stays. Our neighborhood that is so “sketchy” is in the middle of the country on the water so not sure what you meant by that. There are 3 houses on the road spread far apart. I have never in over 200 stays had anyone ever say such a thing. Honestly it is weird that you would say something like that. The neighbor across the street does not to my knowledge harass my guests, I am sure I would have been made aware of it if it ever happened. I don’t know any of the neighbors nor have I ever met them and all of my past guests have been very respectful and peaceful so there would be no reason for my neighbor across the street to have an issue with anyone. I don’t believe anyone said that to you either, at this point you are reaching to come up with bad things to say and you KNOW it. I am sorry we are human and forgot to check the grill when you checked in but the grill is brand new this summer and the trap just needed to be emptied which took 3 seconds for my property manager to do for you. She drove 30 minutes to do this for you. We understand that not every man is a man OF the house and is simply a man IN the house and doesn’t know how to do simple things like emptying a grease trap on a grill but she didn’t even get a Thank you for doing it for you. I am not sure what size “yard” you were looking for but there are clear photos of our huge deck directly on the water. We have a small front yard if that is what you are referring to and we don’t get people coming to stay with us for the front yard facing the road. As for a smell in the house, my guess it was your 2 large dogs that left that smell because I gagged when I opened the door to the house after you checked out. If you read our other reviews, our past guests actually say the house smells great! We get many compliments on it as we have an essential oil diffuser running while we clean and all my guests love it! It also could be the moisture from the water - keep in mind it is on the water not 200 feet from the water and if you don’t keep the HVAC system running at all times it becomes musty and damp like any other lake house so close to the water. My guess is you shut down the HVAC system. This why we have rid it boxes in the house for the moisture in the air. Your wife said she was wondering about those and what we were trying to hide 😂😂😂. I am not sure if she realized that being so close to the water causes moisture in the air. I can’t believe someone has to point this out to her. Since literally no other of the 200 guests that have stayed here has ever complained about a smell I still decided since your stay to add dehumidifiers and air purifiers to each room. Not sure how you could smell anything other than your 2 dogs whom you never bathe. Again reaching for things to complain about. A local farmer hit a utility pole so I had zero control over the loss of power for a few hours. I asked your wife if ya’ll wanted to leave and I would refund the balance of your stay but she said no that she LOVED it there and wanted to stay. She had no problem taking the $600 I rebated to you for a few hours of inconvenience. I couldn’t figure out why you left the this until I realized my property manager kept the $200 security deposit because your 2 big dogs left so much hair and the house smelled so bad I gagged when I walked in to clean. We had to wash all the rugs, curtains in the house because it was so bad. I had to run an ozone machine to get rid of the smell and it took us an extra 3 hours to clean from your dogs. We told you there would be an additional fee for excessive dog hair when you booked. I am sorry that $200 fee along with me initially refusing to communicate off the platform enraged your wife so much that you would leave such a retaliatory review. You both would never be allowed to come back as your wife was the most horrible guest I have ever had. She terrorized me for your whole stay by constantly texting me and demanding things. We didn’t even leave a bad review for you because VRBO doesn’t allow us to write an actual review for guests, just a rating and I felt bad about the power going out for a short time during your stay so I gave you a great rating. We have many families that come back every year and love our cottage. We work very hard to make sure all our guests are happy and have a great stay. You never even mentioned all the treats and beverages we left for you nor did you thank us. Low class people is what you are.

Hi Michelle, I am glad you enjoyed your stay! The flies you are referring to are lake flies and unfortunately they are a part of a lake house so close to the water. I have the house sprayed 2 times a year but it doesn’t do anything for the lake flies. Most of time they aren’t bad and definitely wouldn’t keep you from sitting outside at night most of the time. I think they were bad for your stay for some reason(damp and rainy). They don’t bite and are harmless but realize they are annoying. I am constantly looking for ways to get rid of them when they come out. I hope you will come back again! You left the place very clean and we appreciate that.
