Baleens is a friendly hotel
Publié le 26 avr. 2015 sur HotelsBaleens is now under new ownership and is about to be revamped. What we have always liked about Baleens is the easy going and friendly atmosphere. For example when we go for early morning hikes and arrive back after breakfast, Nato is always keen to make breakfast for us. These friendly gestures make the stay at Baleens a pleasure.

Camera spaziosa con ampio terrazzo vista mare

Unico difetto e’ l’arredamento; un po’ classico e vecchio che non si addice interamente alla bellezza del posto! Se volete andare nella zona centrale di Hermanus serve una macchina. In ogni caso, lo consigliamo per il buon rapporto qualita’-prezzo.

A fair price for the stay
Publié le 17 mars 2015 sur HotelsI don't understand the high score given by others for this quest house. Given the price, the experience is fine, but by no means excellent.
The quality of sleep is not good at all. We had a double bed, which is quite small and it felt too old and soft. The guest house is incredibly noisy due to the wooden floors (which are pretty but alas noisy) so you have to wake up when everyone heads for breakfast. The towels were old, mismatched and had a smell the moment they got wet.
We also found the breakfast quite poor: cereal, fruit salad, toast and jam, eggs and bacon.
On the other hand, every room does have a balcony which is lovely (we had sea views). The noisy wooden floors are lovely and clean and there are lots of sitting areas to relax. The staff is also quite pleasant and friendly.

I found the owner to be rude and unaccommodating. He was terrible to deal with and left us with an overall disappointing experience.

Could do with a revamp

My wife found hairs on her pillow & on a towel in the bathroom so we won't be rushing back.

lovely hotel out of the center

Pour : we booked the hotel because of the nearby beach to see some whales and because we wanted to have some laid-back atmosphere.
Contre : to me it looked a bit "aged"... however, my boyfriend disagree with that. :)
Emplacement : walking at the beach, whale watching, hermanus "city" is only 6min away by car.
if you are searching for a relaxing, quiet place this is the hotel to be. the walk at the beach just right in front of the hotel is darling. the hotel staff is very helpfull! coffe and tea all day for your convenience. also, if you walk to grotto beach have a stop in the restaurant "dutchies".. definitely worth it!

lovely location, owners, area and room!

The guest house was very nice and easy to find, a little out of the town but located 2 minutes drive from the beach, it was ideal for a getaway. On check in, we were moved to a seaview room which was a nice bonus....and I would recommend the sea view to anyone booking.
the breakfast was lovely and staff very helpful. My only negatives would be that the pool was a little dirty, and the wooden floors in the building made for a lot of noise at times...but in truth, I'd highly recommend. The common living areas too are worth noting.

Pour : rapporto qualità/prezzo imbattibile, zona tranquilla a due passi dalla baia e con stupendo panorama dalla terrazza della stanza, gestione squisita
Contre : sinceramente mi è piaciuto esattamente così com'è!
Emplacement : posizione ottima a due passi dalla Grotto Beach, centro di Hermanus a un paio di minuti d'auto e gli ottimi consigli dal Signor Nato!!!
di passaggio a Hermanus ho approfittato dell'ottima offerta di questo Albergo rimanendone davvero soddisfatto del trattamento
