Worth a stay

We stayed at Oaks Hervey Bay for one night booking a one bedroom pool view apartment. This was a staycation. We were upgraded to an ocean view two bedroom. The apartment was very spacious with a massive ensuite including a spa bath. The young lady on reception was extremely efficient and friendly. They have a wellness spa onsite which I visited for a relaxing treatment.

Stayed in room 3, there was NO wifi and NO phone reception on either Telstra or Optus. I even bought a 4G router with high gain antennas, no reception. The resort was nice, but I needed wifi / internet / phone, and did not get it.

A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE IN HERVEY BAY

The checkin experience was terrible, the keys did not work, the room number on the checkin instructions was different from the one with the hotel security, however the keys did not open either room! Generally, the hotel needs a facelift! The building looks old as well as the lifts and the rooms

All the good quality ingredients were there, however, the baking process lacked some heat. A few things that need attention - the shower over the spa bath is a big no. Water all over. Door to bathroom is already rotting at the bottom. A small thing such as the ice tray was not filled, so for a 1 or 2 night stay, no ice. Third and biggest issue was the bedding. Sheet, inner duvet topped with another loose sheet is also a big no! It was hot, so wanted to sleep with sheet only. Separating the sheet from the inner duvet and later trying to draw the duvet up is not exactly hygienic, as you end up with a bare inner which probably gets made up again for next guests. (Personally also did not enjoy that all the balconies look over the pool and face each other.) Check-in service was great.

Didn’t like that they had overbooked. We had booked a one bedroom pool apartment. We were sent down a few stinking hot corridors to eventually find our room. We were put in a two bedroom apt but told if we touched any of the second room stuff we would be billed .. only had two thin bath towels. NO POOL TOWELS. It’s almost like an air b and b. Lounge good. Kitchen good. Shower has seen better days .. beds are super hard. Aircon only in lounge area. Doesn’t quite cool apt. We were put in a room that was directly next to the kids pool so didn’t feel we had privacy .. disappointed. It was one of the top rated hotels in hervey bay… Both restaurants out the front were very good. Great food.
