Hidden Hollow- An adorable cottage within walking distance to town for shopping, dining, galleries, churches, tennis, public pool, nature trails and more. Here, you have end of the road privacy, but are not secluded- very convenient.

This home could easily pass as a three bedroom home- the open loft serves as the 3rd bedroom, and shares the upstairs bathroom. The great room offers an impressive floor to ceiling gas log fireplace, beautiful hardwood floors, Cable TV with DVD, open kitchen, and dining area. Covered porch is a nice escape and overlooks the beautiful lush forest and stream- you would never believe you are just one block to town. Gas grill located just off porch. The Mst BR has a King bed and private bath with jetted tub, the loft area has a trundle bed, the guest BR has a queen bed and private bath. There is a half bath off the great room, and the laundry area is just off the kitchen. This home has central heat and air conditioning, and even though it's small - it "lives large" with all the separate living spaces available.
No Smoking. Only small dogs will be considered This home has WiFi.

The property manager/rental office for this property is a small-town business and we’ve been renting properties for over 30 years. We use VRBO/Homeaway for rental leads/reservations. A portion of your rental proceeds goes to VRBO/Homeaway for their service.

Great stay for Highlands downtown
We come to Highlands every yer Ar this time to reconnect with friends after Thanksgiving. Enjoying the Highlands and the tree lighting tradition. This location was great for us. The listing was exactly as discribed. Only hiccup was the fireplace wouldnt light.

Wanted to love it but no.
Unfortunately, due to the mold and mildew issues with this house we will not be returning. The location is spot on and the house was once truly beautiful, but with the lack of maintenance there is a major mold and mildew issue. As soon as you step in the house you are aware of it. If the owners invested in good dehumidifier that drains outside along with a quality air purifier this may be manageable. We are very familiar with this area being a rain forest, but no one should feel like they are breathing in mold while they stay here, much less smell it. I hope this review helps anyone that is sensitive to these issues. Half our family left early with upper respiratory symptoms. I hope the owner thinks enough of their guests to fix these things.

Good location in town / near town. Walking to many things. TV is old (no smart apps), but that was fine, forced us to do fun things like play chess and do puzzles!

home much less than pristine
Very heavy, bad mold smell, had to run a manual dehumidifier 24/7 in attempt to dry out home. Very, very dark without all lights on in daytime, open hole in wall of master closet to wet crawl space (3X2 feet) in master bedroom, fire hazzard light fixture in master closet (burned fixture and ancient cloth wiring.. unable to be repaired by rental company). When it rained heavily, the street which drains toward house, flooded up to steps about 6 plus inches deep and you had to wait for it to recede before leaving or returning. I cleaned the place for 2 of the three weeks. The good news is I left the home much better than I found it.

THE CABIN IS EXCELLENTLY WELL LOCATED. YOU CAN NOT BELIEVE HOW CLOSE YOU ARE TO THE SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS. EVERYTHING IN THE CABIN WAS FINE ALTHOUGH I WOULD HAVE LIKED BETTER TV SCREEN AND BETTER INTERNET.

Great Highlands getaway
This spot is tucked away down a gravel drive. It was fantastic and suited our needs perfectly. Walkable to everything so convenient as well. Hope to return next year.

Great Mills Creek Cabin
We came with another family from Houston and had a great time! The big open floor plan was great for cooking and we enjoyed the warm fireplace. The downstairs jacuzzi tub was a great end to hiking. We enjoyed being close to everything and walking around the town!

Filthy and full of bugs! 1" of dust on everything and BIG jumping camel crickets all over the place
I rented this cottage in the Highlands, NC for my mother, sisters and other relatives to stay during the weekend of my sons wedding. The pictures looked charming and inviting, but when we arrived the bathrooms were full of big camel crickets - the ones that seek out water. My brother-in-law had to go around and kill them all. During the entire weekend, every time someone used the bathrooms they would jump all over and scare you to death. My mother refused to use the bathrooms after she was scared the second time. The entire cottage hadn't been cleaned and there was an inch of dust on everything and the linens were not as clean as they should have been. I was embarrassed and mortified that I rented such a poorly kept place for my family. It was such a traumatic experience for my sister, she texted all of our family with pictures etc. Discussing!!!

It was great!
We had a fantastic time at hidden hollow! The photos don't do the hoise justice. It's a great, cozy spot. We will definitely be back! Just a short walk into town.
