2/10 – Terrible

Thank goodness for the view.
We stayed at Howrah as the final part in our two week holiday in Tasmania having stayed at six other short stay homes on this trip and many more on other trips. We were very dissappointed to say the least. The check in email had not been sent with the key code and when the owner was contacted he quoted the wrong number for another house and indicated he sent the check in email on the wrong booking platform. Had to ring again and owner thought we were at a different house. Finally got the right number after several calls.
The house itself was in drastic need of a real clean, not just a vacuum. Whilst the house was equiped with just about everything you would need, the presentation was poor and the condition of the furniture and fittings was atrocious. The reclining armchairs were all broken, the bed mattresses were thin and hard, walls and ceiling had been patched and not repainted. The usual extras we had found in the kitchens of other houses were not present, just tea and coffee (no milk).
The garden and yard was overgrown with weeds in the pavers everywhere, the entry gate was broken on its hinges. Owner advised that a garderner was coming in on our second day but didn't arrive so left the place as we found it.
Not a nice way to end two lovely weeks in Tasmania. If it wasn't for the great view across the water to the Hobart CBD and Mount Wellington we would have been furious.
This place has so much potential, just needs the right people to run it.
