The River/Creek was Wonderful
Publié le 16 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayThere were 7 of us relatives gathered for fun and to celebrate a BD. Kitchen was excellent with all the equipment we needed and home very spacious for all of us. Comfy beds and towels, etc. But the BEST was the river and being able to listen to it sitting on the wonderful deck or even in the hot tub. PLUS some of us even went swimming in the cold river…. I got up to my knees but that was about it! Great time all around and we plan to come back!!

Perfect weekend away

Great house in a great location
Publié le 4 août 2024 sur HomeAwayThis house had everything we needed. Large porch and hot tub right on the creek. New furniture on the porch is nice. Two short blocks to town. Great place to stay home, walk into town, or venture out on any number of day trips.

Hot Springs River Run
Publié le 24 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayHad a great stay at the Creek House for our club's annual summer paddle on the French Broad. We've stayed in Karen's properties for this event since 2011. Six of us spent the last two paddle years here and waiting for the bookings to open up for next year.

The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly - Not A Very Clean Property

Kitchen cabinets / counters were covered in grease / grime / dirt which stuck to your hands when touching them. Mold was growing in the refrigerator in multiple spots. Coffee / tea bar was filthy and had to be cleaned including the coffee maker, and the tea water warmer still had old water in it. Coffee cups were still dirty and had to be washed, as well as the pans coated with grease. Dish towels had human hair in them likely from being washed with soiled bath linens. No cleaning products were anywhere. Back door had a ton of dirt / grime build up which came off with some cleaner. When we called the owner we were told that the cleaning lady had to open up a closet for us to get them which was strange given there was plenty of toilet paper, shampoo, and other items. We opted to go get our own at the Dollar General to avoid an awkward confrontation with the cleaning lady who obviously didn't do a great job of cleaning the property. To our surprise one of the first things we saw when we entered the house was an envelope for tipping the house keeper. One would wonder why this is there if the place was so dirty, and not to mention the separate cleaning fee you pay to VRBO. We opted to not tip simply based on this. All of the other rooms / bed linens were clean as well as the bathrooms. The porch and hot tub were both clean. Upon using the beach we did find broken glass.

This is such a bummer to read, and we apologize that you felt this way about the Creek House and found things that were not up to everyone's cleanliness expectations. I would like to share a couple of things that I feel are relevant to this situation/review. We do not doubt that you found things not to your liking, and that is very important to us, and will do our best to step up our game. However, I also would like to take a moment and speak up for the housekeeper. She has taken care of this particular rental house for at least 10 years. She takes ownership and a lot of pride in her work at the house. I spoke with her the day that you shared your findings with me and she was terribly embarrassed and wanted to come over and make things better. She also understood that you and your wife requested her not to, but was still willing to come and open the cleaning closet so that you had supplies. One last thing, she previously had cleaned the fridge as she saw it as mold too, only to learn that it is a stain that she cannot remove. She is excellent at what she does, and we are thankful for her level of commitment to help us make this a beloved vacation rental.
We will make sure to leave some cleaning supplies for guest use, as this makes 100% sense. Once again, we apologize for your experience not being stellar, as we want everyone to really enjoy their time here.

The swimming area is a huge plus in the summer time.
Beautiful house and property. Would absolutely stay again.

Publié le 17 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayForget your troubles and be soothed by the sound of Spring Creek just off your spacious, covered, private and comfortable hot tub-equipped back deck. We love this charming house and its in-town convenience, and enjoy staying typically 3 times a year. Catch us on cool mountain mornings with a cup of coffee enjoying the birdsong from the deck's comfortable seating. House is very well appointed, including a cook's kitchen, coffee supplies, shampoo, etc., best hosts ever, and all the superlatives your thesaurus can muster. What are you waiting for? Make that reservation. You will not regret it.

Great stay!

Hot springs getaway
