Convenient hostel on a fun street
Posted Apr. 29, 2015 on HotelsThe hostel has a funky atmosphere with notes on the walls from visitors from around the world and a foosball table on the balcony overlooking the street.
Our room was fine - facing inward and quiet, not super charming, but comfortable. We had a private 2 person room and towels were provided. Not sure about the bunks.
The Old Street area has nice atmosphere and is lively in the evening.
We were able to pre-order a breakfast at the hostel and join an early morning shuttle to Tunxi organized by the hostel, which really streamlined the trip.
The folks at reception were happy to give advice on routes for climbing the mountain.

Pros: Great staff. Incredible location. Good price. Cool, young, international vibe.
And I was able to safely store my luggage for 2 days which was great!
The hostel is perfect. It's in the heart of the extremely charming and bustling Old Street district, and yet tucked just enough away that the rooms are nice and quiet. The front desk staff are very friendly and accommodating, and they can speak very good english. Overall it's a great spot for a great price. Highly recommended.

Great location, cheap price, worth it!
Posted Sep. 16, 2016 on HotelsI came back for a second time because I remembered the hostel to be located very well, directly on the Old Street "Laojie" and with a great (tasty, affordable and nicely decorated) restaurant just opposite. The hostel offers daily rides (6:10am) to the Yellow Mountains "Huangshan" for 22 RMB each. Before that ride you can have breakfast inside the hostel (starting from 5:30am, ~35 RMB each, basic but alright).
The main desk was polite and they speak both clear Mandarin and English.
This time I was a bit disappointed by the WiFi, it worked in the lobby but not in our room. Also, the bathroom was a little bit too basic and badly flooded after taking a shower, no curtains or anything. Walls very thin, we woke up several times because of other guests.
Yet, for the price and the location (great restaurant just opposite) I would come back. Also Tunxi in general, apart from Huangshan is worth a visit. Better than four years ago, nice pedestrian street also on the other side of the river.

Staff sehr Hilfsbereit auch wenn sie nicht so gut Englisch sprechen. Perfekte Unterkunft für die Besichtigung der Old Street.
