Loved the view of the mountains from the hostel, secured wifi, hot shower, socket points availability next to the beds, and the staff- despite speaking very little English, try their best to help you with your queries. The hostel also has water for sale at the reception which was great. However, there are also two mini stores next to it where you can get some dry food and water.
Furthermore, the staff graciously allowed us to check in early when we arrived three hours earlier than the checkin time, which we really appreciated since we just spent the previous night in Lima Airport just before arriving in Huaraz.
Only a bar of soap was provided for showering though, so you will need to have your own shampoo and conditioner. Despite mentioning laundry service in their amenities, you actually have to head to a nearby laundromat to send your laundry and pick it up from them the next day.
Also, the property is on a small hill so you will have to walk up a slope every time you come back to the hostel. To access the property, you will need to press the doorbell and wait for the staff to open the door for you; which might be a small problem if the staff was unavailable at the time you arrive- which was what we encountered when we first arrived to check in, where we waited a few minutes before we got a response. Didn’t have that issue for the rest of our stay though.
Overall, enjoyed our stay in Tupac Hostel and wouldn’t mind staying here again the next time we are in Huaraz. ^^
