Alpaca Farm Retreat - secluded and private

If you are looking to retreat from the stresses of suburbia and to enjoy the simple pleasure of being in the country-side then this is the accommodation for you.

A self-servicing luxury farm stay cottage offers peace and quiet, privacy, seclusion, tranquility. Set in rural landscape with views across farmland to the sea to the north and Mt Taranaki to the south. The sound of birds in the bush and of the creek nearby are the only things to interrupt the silence. Alpacas may seek your company at the window and then return to grazing with their herd.

Just 10kms from New Plymouth, the many attractions Taranaki has to offer are close by, eg beaches, mountains, gardens, golf courses, Pukekura Park, Bowl of Brooklands, Pukeiti Gardens, Pukeariki Museum, Len Lye Art Gallery.

Facilities include double bed accommodation for 3 couples (2 queen-size beds in each bedroom, and a foldout couch in the lounge) and there are roll-out beds in addition. Hot Spring Spa/Jaccuzi. Fully equipped kitchen and laundry. Gas heating. Entertainment facilities include Sky TV, ipod dock, Blue Ray player.

Peaceful and wonderful location

We had an excellent stay at the Alpaca Retreat. The cottage was in a great location, it’s nicer than the pictures, our children enjoyed feeding the alpacas everyday, and it was very close to Ōakura Beach. It is well appointed and comfortable, the host was responsive, and we would definitely stay again when visiting the area.

Best farm stay in New Plymouth

Great place, although a little away from the city centre, but that’s what we would like to get away from the busy city life and enjoy a few quiet nights in the rural area. Modern house with spa, family feel house settings, luxury furnitures and whitewares, super friendly alpacas seemed always looking at you, waiting for you to say hello and feeding them. Wonderful hosts attended to a couple of small issues immediately after we checked in, although it was after 9pm at night. Highly recommended place to stay in Taranaki!!!

Comfortable Isolation

Great location between the mountain and sea. Very spacious and comfortable accommodation stocked with everything one needs for a home away from home stay. Great communication and consideration demonstrated from Trish. The family loved the place, all for different reasons.

A Happy Place

Just watching the alpacas makes you happy at this farm. The house was well appointed with everything we needed. An easy drive into New Plymouth with all it has to offer. Would definitely recommend The Alpaca Retreat. We have enjoyed it twice.

Understated luxury

The photos do not do justice to this property. The accommodation and amenities are superb, and the location is sublime. Having the Alpacas around was the cherry on top. Not to mention the hawks overhead and viewing the stars in a nice dark sky. Would love to return for another stay some time.

Loved our stay at the alpaca retreat!

We had an amazing time staying at the alpaca retreat! The alpacas we grazing in the field around the house and could be seen from all the windows along with the beautiful views. The home was clean and very well equipped for our group and we enjoyed a very memorable Christmas there. I will suggest this place to anyone I know traveling. Tom the area. Thank you Trish.

Amazing Farm Retreat

The cottage had everything we needed, and was an amazing place for rest and relaxation. Far enough for tranquility, but near enough for getting supplies. The alpacas were definitely amazing and super cute. Will definitely come back!

Taranaki Garden Festival Accomodation

A lovely location and excellent facility. Some problem with TV going off every 30 minutes and not straight forward to regain reception. Unable to get boiling water facility in master bedroom to work.. Alpacas didn't seem to like the food treat provided. Ha ha. Overall we would recommend Alpaca Retreat to anyone looking for first class accomodation.

Awesome spot

This property was perfect for our base for the Junior motorcross championship,which was only 10 minutes away.The Spa at the end of the day was fantastic,and the rural outlook was great.Having Sky sport was a bonus to watch Bathurst on the Sunday. Would recommend this property.

This place was great. We loved hanging out with and feeding the alpacas. The spa was also a hit. Make sure if you are coffee drinkers you come with coffee and milk, as none was provided for us (instant coffee sachets were there). Great setup for 2 couples. Nice rural setting.

Bliss in the Countryside

An absolutely gorgeous cottage - set in acres of verdant farmlands, with views of both ocean and volcano. We loved the outdoor dining area, barbecue and spa bath - perfect for soothing post-hiking muscles. The cottage is aptly names after the curious and very cute creatures that graze in the lush paddocks surrounding the cottage. Worth saving for your visit…
