Private and secluded
This property is in a rural area a short distance away from Icod. We loved our restful stay here. The rooms were a good size and it was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. Pedro and his wife met us at the property on the day of arrival and although our canarian is pretty poor, with the help of google translate all was good. We had Pedro's telephone number in case of any difficulties, not that there were any . Pedro produces his own wine with grapes grown in the adjacent vineyard and are available to buy - I thoroughly recommend the Tinto! We also had a large basket of locally grown fruit on arrival including papaya and physalis grown in the garden. A car is needed to explore the area, however there is a couple of restaurants that can be reached on foot - our favourite was called Cafe La Mancha, reached by crossing a bridge across the main road - they have a wide range of dishes and do have a menu translated to English. You can walk to Icod, however it's a good twenty minutes uphill so best to take the car for shopping/ hotter days. Icod
Old Icod is lovely to explore, lots of architecture and traditional squares. A tip for free parking, follow the signs for the Museo de Guanches. Playa de San Marcos is probably the nearest beach, about 5 minutes drive away, lovely black sand in a sheltered cove, a few restaurants and bars and didn't ever seem to get that busy. We had a lovely time here and enjoyed the peace and quiet..
