This motel is charming by its location and the original side of its rooms (style forest hut), you should know that it is a little outdated and that it would surely need a touch of paint and replacement of broken tiles. This being the case, it is relatively ok to spend one or two nights on the condition of not having a noisy neighbor (the walls are thin). If the young woman of the reception can advise you on the bars and restaurants of the area, she is however totally incompetent to manage appropriately the (very small) "breakfasts" composed of 1 apple, a brick of juice, a sachet quaker oat and a scone "fresh". Indeed to have spent two nights and having to leave early the first morning for our scheduled visit of the canyons of Palm Springs at 1:30 drive, she had committed to deposit our breakfast basket at 8:15 (which was already late for we who wanted to leave before 8h) pretext that the bakery was not open before this time to provide the (only) scone. We had to wait until 9:00 to finally have this famous , and we have lost more than 1 hour on our schedule. We then asked her to deliver a "breakfast basket" without scone in the day for our breakfast of the second day because we had to leave around 7:30. Breakfast basket, which was never delivered we had to leave on an empty stomach and stop en route to eat. We leave her to refund this breakfast for $ 38 25 (invoice available) which is normally included in the price of the room.

Rachel and Debbie were so kind and welcoming. I am very happy with my experience and the great, pleasant energy of the locals of Idyllwild. I can’t wait to return again

Cute an quirky motel

I really enjoyed my stay! The Idyllwild was so cute with all the cedar walls and the little kitchen and balcony! I loved sitting on the balcony at night looking at the stars!. The hosts were awesome and I made two new friends. Also the home made scones in the cute breakfast basket were a great touch. There could be more attention to cleaning as I saw old grains of rice in the bed. I would stay there again!

I've been staying here for almost a decade, but prior to this trip it had been about 4 years since my last visit and it seems that the property has noticably fallen into disrepair. I will no longer be recommending this place to anyone or staying there myself.

Convenient location

The receptionist on site charged me for my service dog which is illegal. I called U.S. Service Animal agency the next day to report it. The manager soon came to my door and said she would reverse the charge, but I’ve yet to see it on my bank account. As for the room, the TV didn’t work. It took forever for the hot water to heat up in the shower. The lodge is next to the highway with nowhere but the side of the road next to traffic to walk a dog. The bed was comfortable. The lodge is only 3 minutes from town so the location is convenient. I’d probably stay there again, but I did have to drive my dog to a nearby field for her to go potty. Also, a picnic style breakfast is brought to your door in a basket in the morning. It had an apple, fruit juice, instant oatmeal, and a chocolate filled croissant in it. Nice touch. The whole place needs a better paint job. It wasn’t expensive, either.
