The Independence Hotel is an upscale hotel walkable to Independence’s historic downtown. It sits right on the river walk and has great fires from the rooms along the back and the rooftop viewing lounge. The breakfast was plentiful, varied, and delicious. I also enjoyed a glass of local wine in the bar/restaurant and although I didn’t order food, what I saw on the menu and on other tables looked yummy. I appreciate all the sustainable features and commitment to reducing plastic waste and disposables. My daughter goes to college nearby and I will definitely return to The Independence on future visits.

Beautiful, clean hotel. Great food and close to all attractions. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

I was immediately taken by how clean everything is AND how friendly the employees are! They say hi and give eye contact! Those things matter.

Although you gave us a 4 and most hotels would be pleased with that, we believe it suggests you may not have been entirely happy with your stay, thus my reason for writing. We are used to getting 5 stars. I will be grateful if you can fill me in on where we missed the mark. Social media is largely how we earn business in today’s world, so review scores lower than an excellent rating impact our reputation relative to traveler perceptions and occupancy potential. Please know, we want you and everyone else who stays at The Independence to feel special and properly treated. Our goal is for The Independence to have an exceptional service reputation and to be known as a trusted and great place to stay for accommodations, where guests can count on the fact we will work to make things right, should any problems be experienced. We loved staying at The Independence. The sheets and towels were soft, great shower, very clean and nice breakfast. We were really looking forward to using the hot tub, but when we arrived, they informed us it was broken. We played at the park and strolled around town instead. There is a cute ice cream parlor about one block away and we stopped at the wishing fountain and tossed in some pennies. All around a great stay.
