Returning Guests

Publié le 5 nov. 2024 sur HomeAway
This was our 2nd time staying here and absolutely love every bit. David is so awesome to communicate with. The cabin is immaculate with everything you could need or think of to make your stay complete. We enjoyed the hot tub even in the terrential rain we had. We reserved it again for early 2025. Thank you for sharing David.

Boy howdy, there sure isn't any confusing the season up here. Once the Autumn switch got flipped the rains arrived, the river levels have come up and with it so have the salmon and the Bald Eagles. Thanks for coming back to A Cabin On The Sky.

Honeymoon Getaway

Publié le 26 oct. 2024 sur HomeAway
This cabin was an absolute dream! The setting was so serene and peaceful, with the sound of the water flowing by as we fell asleep with the windows open—truly magical. Waking up to the breathtaking views from the bedroom window made each morning feel special. The cabin had all the thoughtful touches you could need, and the bed was incredibly cozy and comfortable. We loved every minute of our stay and have already decided to come back for our 5-year anniversary, hopefully for a longer stay to soak in even more of this beautiful spot. Highly recommend!

It's always humbling to know that my cabin plays a role in a major life event like a honeymoon that will forever live on in my guests memories. I am so glad you found your way here. If your West Coast honeymoon adventure continued, I hope you kept finding special places to stay. Thanks for allowing me to host you and I hope you have many happy years together.

Heavenly

The property was everything and more. So easy to communicate with the property manager as well. The views were awesome and there were great hikes around. Saw a bald eagle on our last morning there

The salmon are returning which means the eagles are also coming back for the Winter. I have yet to see one this season. There has been an osprey in the skies these past few days and it is not uncommon to see Peregrine Falcons that nest on the cliff face. Glad to hear you took advantage of the abundant hiking opportunities that are nearby. Fall is a great season to get out and about. I hope to hear from you again.

Another Wonderful Stay

Publié le 23 oct. 2024 sur HomeAway
We spent 3 nights in mid October and were luck to have mild temps and sunshine. The cabin served us well as a place to relax and recharge. Nearby hiking and a walk to the trailhead of the climbing wall were great. Very much look forward to returning.

You certainly won the weather lottery, although this little valley can be magical in any kind of weather. Hunkering down near the fire while things are blustery outside brings its own rewards. I look forward to hearing from you again.

Has it all

The cabin is charming and the setting is extremely beautiful. Long drive from Oregon, but after visiting twice in Spring, I had to return for more beauty in Autumn. The host is very approachable and helpful.

Thanks for your kind words. It is always gratifying to hear from a guest who has stayed at the cabin in the past who are willing to drive a long distance just to spend time in this beautiful corner of the planet. I am glad you find the cabin comfortable and the views are what has kept me here for 48 years. Right now we are looking out at early season snow on the mountaintops. I look forward to hearing from you again and thanks for sharing.

Beautiful

Couldn’t get over the beautiful views and how nice the river was. Well stocked kitchen and had everything we needed. Nearby general store was convenient. Loved our stay.

It sure is awfully pretty up this way. The river, the mountains, the forests all blend together to make for some beautiful scenery. Even days that might be considered dreary in other places can be magical. Thanks for staying with us.

Best spot in Washington!

Publié le 4 oct. 2024 sur HomeAway
My fiance and I have been here twice now, and both times it has been so relaxing and magical. The cabin is situated in such a lovely area (town and nature alike), and the cabin itself is so cozy and well-maintained. The hosts are very thorough with directions and are very kind! We had the privilege of meeting David after we made an oopsie that needed fixing, and he was very communicative and understanding! We will certainly be back again and again and again!

No worries regarding the "oopsie". Without which we may have not met. It gave me the opportunity to tell you about the spawning salmon just upstream from the cabin. We don't have a lot of entertainment up here in the sticks and the migrating fish offer up some cheap thrills. Thank you, so much, for your kind words. I very much appreciate guests such as yourselves and I look forward to hearing from you again.

Cabin in the sky

Publié le 1 oct. 2024 sur HomeAway
The house and area were beautiful. We did have a last minute change with our trip and were able to bring our daughters along, originally it was just going to be my finance and I. I guess I missed the No Children requirement when I booked the rental and this would be the first rental I've booked with that restriction, I average three a year. Anyhow we got hit with an additional guest fee on the second day we were there, $66.66, an odd amount I know. Once I figured out what it was for I kicked myself for not reading the fine print when I booked over a month ago and paid it. And I figured oh well, it's a nice spot and I missed that detail. So bad on me... But then I started thinking, how did the owner know we had our daughters, ages 10 and 12, with us? And that kinda bothers me. I expect a fair level of privacy when I stay in a rental. So I definitely would have given the owners five stars if they hadn't crossed that line. I wouldn't persuade anyone to not give it this place a shot. But there's probably similar rentals in the area without that same privacy concern.

I can assure you and any other person that I do not surveille my guests. We walk our dogs every morning and the day you received a Payment Request for an extra person I saw a child at the cabin when walking past. Rather than confront you in front of your family I wished to avoid making you uncomfortable or cause you any embarrassment. I opted to request a payment for the extra person at $30.00/night, plus tax, for two nights. I have paid as much when traveling with our canine companions. Had I known there were two children that fee would have been doubled. There is no "fine print". My ad clearly states under House Rules that children are not allowed. In addition, my rental agreement that you acknowledged and agreed to adhere to states there will be a maximum of only two guests. The first sentence under the description of the cabin states that it is adults only. If anyone crossed a line it is you. It is not my fault that you did not pay attention to my House Rules and Policies and ignored my Rental Agreement. I have been offering my property to others for over 20 years and it is extremely rare that anyone disregards my House Rules...to my knowledge. It is only by chance that your child was visible at the time we walked past. Anytime a guest has disregarded my Policies and Rules I always feel disrespected. Some incidents were so egregious that I evicted them. In addition, the hot tub must have been a popular amenity during your stay. On your arrival the water was clear. I had drained and refilled the tub a couple weeks prior. I always check between guests and the water was murky, the filter was brown. It took more than an additional hour of my time just to get the water back to an acceptable state for guests arriving later in the day. Under my posted Hot Tub Rules I ask that guests shower or, at a minimum, rinse off before using the tub. Another rule ignored by you and another reason to limit the number and type of guests. Yes, there are other rentals in the area that welcome children and pets. That is their prerogative. I used to do the same until I changed my policies last year. Those changes have allowed me to continue to offer this exceptional place to others. I am old. I am tired. I don't need the extra work associated with anything more than two adult persons. My property. My choice. My rules. I would rather lose a booking than be disrespected and in this instance I wish you had stayed elsewhere. I encourage you and others to, please, choose a property that is more appropriate for their particular needs.

Perfect getaway

Publié le 30 sept. 2024 sur HomeAway
My sister and I spent 2 nights at the cabin. Would have loved to stay a week; maybe next time. It’s one of my favorite places for a quick and complete change of pace from the busy and often stressful routine of “normal” life in the city

Index is only about an hour drive from the city but that hour can take a person to another world. On this, the last day of September, trees are starting to turn, nights are getting colder and immediately upstream salmon are spawning in the river. We can witness a "live" Discovery channel episode. I hope to hear from you again.
