Poor Quality Strange Policies
Posted Aug. 14, 2024 on HotelsThe bed and pillows provided in the room were of notably low quality, feeling thin and not well-suited for repeated use in a lodging environment. The right side of the mattress was weak and did not support the sleeper. The layout of the room also presented challenges, particularly with the left side of the bed positioned under a sloped ceiling, which led to multiple instances of bumping our heads when getting up.
Additionally, the waste disposal policy was inconvenient. Arriving at the room I was reminded of the $25 for not sorting garbage, which could have been easily avoided if as expected appropriate sorting receptacles were provided in the room from the start. This would have made the process much smoother and more straightforward.
Overall, the accommodation fell short of expectations, especially considering the price point.

We had to take out our own garbage or be charged $25 to have housekeeping take it. This is just ridiculous!

Needs refurbishment and renovation
Posted Aug. 2, 2024 on HotelsThe place was good but the place was old and getting to our unit required us to gp through narrow stairs and small doors. Towels still have smell of sun screen. Washroom needs fixing as the toilet is shaky and leaking septic gas.

The food at Cabot Shores was wonderful! The staff are lovely and the location perfect as a jumping off spot for many things to do on Cape Breton. The room was rustic but quiet and convenient

The dinner meals were amazing. I had halibut one night and salmon the next. It was served with fresh vegetables from the garden. I had soup and mussels as appetizers and both were fabulous. The breakfast was very underwhelming, cold frittata and French toast with Aunt Jemima syrup ,no fresh fruit as promised. Our server Pierre was polite, efficient and kind.
My room,6a ,had a moldy smell. The a/c filters were caked with dust ( I cleaned them out myself) and the patio door to the outdoor did not lock. I reported it to the front desk, nothing was done so I had to secure the door myself.
