Maine trip '24
Publié le 11 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayCamp wasn't exactly a lake house. No designated beach or boat ramp. Camp was nice and clean. Porch was unfinished and no designated fire pit.

The property is spacious. However, it was very dusty and not very clean - make sure you do not open the little fridge, it smells like rotten fish. No internet passwords given. Also, the lockbox key is finicky and was very difficult to open. We also turned the video camera on the porch away, as it points directly into the house which is against the rules. Nearby water great, but will be looking for alternative accomodation next time.

Our Great Stay
Publié le 6 mars 2023 sur HomeAwayToday was our last day staying at camp wrong way and I must say we had a blast. Our total stay was from March 2nd through the 5th. This was our first time booking and our first time staying in Jackman Maine. 10/10 would stay there again. The place and property is beautiful and had everything we needed. The cabin itself was very clean, and well organized. One of the cleanest places “I” myself have stayed in comparison to some other places I’ve stayed. Easy parking for snowmobiles and for the truck and trailer. Just a side note for you 4 place trailer boys, it’s tight but any experienced driver can back a trailer in. I didn’t have any issues after removing my stabilization bar that prevents jack knifing.
On a side note as if you are someone who reads reviews and may have seen the review prior. This landowner does have issues with his neighbor. I do not write this excerpt to bash this place or the landowner. I will not write this section to steer you away from booking here because in all honestly, I would stay and book here again. I genuinely feel bad for this land owners struggles. The reason I am writing this is as a warning as it will inform you prior as to what to be potentially prepared for as it prepared me. At the end of the day the landowners neighbor will try and tell you “you” can’t snowmobile off this property when in fact you can. This neighbor has posted no snowmobiling signs on this guys property and has his number on there to call. (Do not call the number). Secondly; loop road is a public road. It is also is a club snowmobile trail. His neighbor cannot tell you that you can’t ride on either or and he has zero jurisdiction to do so. The local authorities and F&G can and will confirm to you that you are 100% in the clear to ride from this property. I myself went through it and can tell you your fine. Just ignore the neighbor, enjoy this beautiful slice of heaven and go put some miles on them sleds and you’ll have a blast :)
Another side note: check the guest book for a funny vacation summary from the 2nd through the 5th. Be goofy and share your experiences :) we want to read what you have to say when we book next year!

Host was great. The house was clean and met our needs for snowmobiling.
Publié le 26 févr. 2023 sur HomeAwayThe location, host and accommodations were great. The only issue was with a crazy neighbor. The neighbor thinks he owns access rights to the trail for snowmobiling. He put up signs at the end of the driveway by the trail saying no snowmobiling. He tried to intimidate us not to access the trail from the property. Other than that great riding.

Do not recommend
Publié le 19 févr. 2023 sur HomeAwayWhere to start. We walk in on the porch that is not shoveled and extremely icy. The shovel that is available for you to use is a metal garden shovel, not a snow shovel. There is no salt or sand available, I had to reach out to the plow guy myself to get someone there to sand the incredibly icy driveway. My husband spent 30minutes breaking up the ice on the porch. Upon arrival the owner notified us of the “problem” neighbor and we were instructed to call 911 if we can a confrontation with him! The owner clearly knew about this prior but waited for us to arrive to tell us. The outside of the property is littered with cameras, but then we walk inside and there is a camera inside the porch, that turned on when we were walking inside! I notified the owner this was not allowed and I unplugged. At first the property appeared clean inside. Upon further inspection it was a minimal surface cleaning at best. There was cobwebs and dirt. The keurig barely worked, we had to use a knife to make a hole in the bottom of our k cups to make coffee. There wasn’t any extra toilet paper or paper towels, only one roll each, which were not even full when we arrived. There are no curtains or blinds, so don’t expect to sleep in if you are bothered by light. Speaking of sleeping- we were awoken at 8am on Saturday morning to footsteps on the porch and the porch door slamming. The owner forgot to tell the trash guy that he had guests! So we had an unexpected man walking In on us while sleeping!

Snowmobiling in Jackman
Publié le 23 janv. 2023 sur HomeAwayAwesome location for Snowmobiles/ Acess to trails , house has all the basics , it’s not the ritz but we weren’t looking for the ritz (Sleeps 8 if you are 4 couples ) There is a small issue with a local land owner who owns all of the adjacent properties, owner of this house and him have some issues to work out , but a small donation to the local snowmobile club seemed to smooth out the situation ! Layout of house abd driveway was awesome, plenty of parking and our snowmobiles were completely safe at night !

The issue with a local land owner would be Randy Petrin from Long Pond Camps and guide service who owns non of the adjacent properties on Loop Rd. Loop Rd is private and owner maintained with deeded water access. We should not be forced to join clubs.
