Fine property, strange experience

When we arrived, we noticed the door was unlocked and upon closer inspection, realized the sliding (and ONLY) door didn’t have a lock at all. We contacted the owner and were told that the handle was broken 2 days prior, and they “did their best” to replace the handle, but acknowledged that they knew the door wouldn’t lock from the outside. I let them know the door also did not lock from the inside, and they literally told me to look for a stick to jam in the door. Wildly unacceptable, and since the upstairs couldn’t be secured, our choices were to only use the downstairs or not leave the property the entire vacation. A very bizarre experience. The home itself, assuming they fixed the door, is lovely, but the unprofessionalism was truly shocking.

Regarding your comment of "unprofessionalism" - as was explained to you, the lock on the door could not be repaired. The only way to be able to have a lockable sliding glass door is to have the entire door replaced which will take several days to be delivered and installed which would have meant canceling your reservation two days before your check in date. Also, you failed to mention that we sent our contractor to the property to try to repair the lock after you contacted us about the issue - so I'm not sure how you are defining this as unprofessional.
I also find it odd that you described your experience at the beachfront property as "strange" and "bizarre" due to a broken lock when the guest before and after you stay have had 5 star experiences - and they weren't even given a late check out like you were given upon request, which was provided free of charge.
PS - I realize you don't live on Amelia Island, but i don't know anyone here that locks their doors.

Okay for the Most Part
Publié le 14 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayBe prepared for very close quarters. It’s smaller than we imagined, and we were prepared for small. Updates inside are nice, and yes, the outside needs some TLC. I would have liked the interior to be tad cleaner when we arrived, but basically it was okay. Being on the beach, you can’t beat the location. However, I would opt for larger and newer on the other side of the street next time—especially with small children. This property would be best for two couples or families with older kids. I will say, however, the host was very responsive when we reached out.

Couldn't have asked for a better house in a better location

Great Home in a Great Location
Publié le 6 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayThis house was perfect for us. We came to town to open the Christmas Store Downtown and it was a close proximity which was great. Being Oceanfront to enjoy the ocean breezes from the deck was perfect after the long work days. The space was great. Highly recommend.

Low key as in laid back no stress, no worries, no crowd

Inside perfect for our needs. Inside pictures were what we experienced.
7 adults 2 dogs 3 cars
1.) Clean
2.) Dogs allowed
3.) Easy access to beach
4.) Grill on deck
5.) Plenty of parking.
6.) AC can keep it very cool.
7.) With 2 kitchens and fridges, no issues cooking.
8.) Under deck nice to sit at tables.
Extra - Quite. Traffic noise minimal. Night time noise - none
Excellent value for the money.
Will rent again.
