On our first day Saturday (12/14/24), we discovered the main lobby was closed for construction, so we had to use the back door to locate the cashier for check-in. Breakfast was served in a very small room with insufficient seating, so it was often full. The bread toaster was broken, the coffee maker was too small, and we couldn’t even get coffee. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. The daytime front desk manager, blonde lady “Lisa”, came across as unhelpful and seemed uncomfortable dealing with guests of color, which felt discriminatory. However, the night shift staff and room cleaners were polite and very helpful. Additionally, I was charged $4.95 to use their Wi-Fi service, even though it was advertised as free. Advice for others: Before booking this hotel, I recommend doing some extra research.”

My stay at Hampton Inn.
Hotel was very under construction and very dusty. The front of the hotel is blocked off so you have to walk around that side of the hotel which means they have to keep the doors unlocked on the side. Woke up that morning and walked to breakfast and there is signs that say no coffee today. These were just some of the things that made the state unpleasant.

It was under construction with dust and debris and we were there for medical treatment in Jacksonville and were not notified of the fumes and dust and delays in elevator issues with a wheelchair guest ahead of time. Very inconvenient and unprofessional and a big health risk for a person with breathing problems.

I spent the entire weekend including most of the daytime since I had major surgery on Monday. I could not rest due to all the construction noise. I would have stayed on Beach Boulevard if I had known. Also disappointed that I went down to breakfast Friday and saw very little breakfast meat at 8. I went earlier on Saturday or Sunday and saw breakfast staff filling plates for maintenance staff. I’m a devoted Hilton member but was extremely disappointed. Also disappointed that when I found out that my surgery required a Monday night stay in the hospital, I couldn’t cancel my last night because I booked on Expedia. All in all a very disappointing weekend.

Want my money back!
Loud and leaky tub faucet ALL NIGHT LONG. A/C didn’t work; I complained to the desk that it was 81° in my room - she offered no resolution and had no regard for my comfort. The bathroom light was on the same switch as the exhaust fan and it sounded like a TRAIN coming through my room (especially getting up for relief in the middle if the night). Hotel was also under construction and not disclosed prior to booking, so we couldn’t use the front door and there was dusty plastic draped all over the place. Didn’t feel safe as side door to hotel was unlocked 24H since the front door was not in service, however reception was nowhere near the side door. But anybody could walk in off the street and hop right into an elevator just inside the side door. It was horrific and in never go back. I want my money back.

Worst Customer Service for hotel under renovations
We would not have stayed except we arrived after the 5 hour drive to Jacksonville and appointment at Mayo Clinic and were tired. Hotel was under renovations, lobby closed, only one elevator working and it was down for at least 15 minutes (we and several other quests waited. Three of the guests, including my husband, had come form appointments at Mayo Clinic. 2 were in wheel chairs, one with head bandaged from surgery. Front desk person said, "it is being worked on" when I told her about the situation. I explained I'm sorry is not a good response with you had at least 3 ill and recovering patients waiting to get to their room and rest. She said she could not do anything more. Whole first floor rooms were under construction. Got to room and there was only a desk chair to sit in, no couch no other chairs. When I complained, that night a lounge chair was brought to the room and left outside the door, It would not fit into the room. Did not want to sit in hall. NO warning of construction going on when room was reserved. We chose this hotel because the last trip to Mayo we stayed in Holiday Inn Express and they were under renovations and we checked out.

I had booked a 6 days stay at the property, but was not informed about it being a construction site. Main entrance could not be used to get to rooms, and you had to take your luggage around the side door with an awful floor, only one elevator was usable, etc etc. Smell of chemicals was bad. Left after 3 nights. I have stayed there previously several times and was very satisfied.

We were not aware when we booked the hotel that there was such extensive construction work going on. I came in town traveling from South Florida to have surgery and it was loud and dusty. I definitely would not have chose this location for a recovery.

This stay was a huge disappointment. The hotel was under construction which was not disclosed when I booked it and the noise kept me up until after 1am. I called the front desk person who denied that there was any noise… I strongly suggest that no one stays there for a long time. The most disturbing part is that the front desk attendant said he would look into it but did nothing and there was no follow up. I came because I was visiting a parent at Mayo who was in a tragic accident and was so exhausted after being awake half of the night that I could barely stay awake to handle the situation at Mayo.
