You'll also find picnic tables and a walking trail that goes alongside the river. Nearby is an outdoor community pool. If you keep straight on 19 E instead of turning off, you'll reach Roan Mountain and can turn into Roan Mountain State Park where Rhododendron's cover the side of the mountain. I know you're not gonna want to spend your time cooking, so we better talk a little about the food in the area, (I will be supplying info about the food and shops in our area, so make sure you browse them a bit.) Let's start with southern food. Biscuits and Gravy, Grits and/or Taters! You'll find these all around in all the non-chain places. Then there's BBQ, they're just about everywhere too. One you might want to try is back in the woods on the Old Elizabethton Hwy. It may not look like much, but just looking at the parking lot will tell you it's got good food. (Read the article about the cook.) It was featured on Good Morning America. (Not open on Sunday) Another popular southern meal is Pinto Beans and Cornbread, which again, is best at the smaller places. Food reigns in the Tri-Cities. You might have noticed a small drive through with BIG food on the top of the building. That's a local chain and everyone has to try it. Don't worry if the line is loooong, you'll get out of it likety split! Breweries are big everywhere now, Downtown Johnson City and Elizabethton both have plenty and they are known for their good food too! Hopefully, looking through all the albums we have at the cottage will help you decide not only on what you want to eat, but on what you want to do. If you don't want to do anything, that's okay. There are zero indoor cameras for your privacy.
