Beach, birds, and peace
Publié le 27 déc. 2022 sur HomeAwayYou are located away from the hustle and bustle, yet a short drive to Kaiteriteri Central. Do have an umbrella handy for a short dash to the loo. A very generous room is a mere 50 metres to Tapu Bay and is surrounded by bush and birds. Paul is a great host.

Right on the beach
Publié le 1 févr. 2021 sur HomeAwayLovely spot. It's super close to the ever-changing Tapu Beach. The low tide walks are amazing. House expansive and comfortable. The spa is superb and in a quiet and sunny spot surrounded by trees. Great place to bring your kayaks or SUP as can walk them from the house. Need to time with the tide. Great mountain biking within 100 meters. Very close to Kaiteriteri (20 minute walk on beautiful coastal pathway) and yet away from the crowds. Owner very responsive and contact was frequent during stay - he is very keen to make sure all goes well and property well looked after. Cleanliness probably not to owner standard as he was away at time of check in and takeover of the property.

A one off
Publié le 14 févr. 2020 sur HomeAwayClean and well appointed apartment with views to the bay and hills beyond . Paul was a very helpful host giving us good advice on local restaurants and trips etc. Just note that the well fitted out alfresco bathroom is under the apartment. We enjoyed our stay.

Thus is for the studio bed and breakfast unit. The self contained unit has an en suite bathroom and kitchenette.
The studio unit has spectacular views of sea, beach and snow capped mountains. We don’t rent out this unit in winter as the al fresco atrium
bathroom toes not lend tp comfort and warmth in colder months, but in summer is a unique nature lodge experience, both loved and enjoyed by continental l nationalities.

The Palms review
Publié le 3 janv. 2020 sur HomeAway1. Lack of privacy. The room is an area off a lounge that is separated by a door. Every sound made is heard by all.
2. Inadequate facilities. One toaster provided(on request) and a hot water jug that has to be filled with a bottle with water sourced from an outside tap.
No sink or running water in room.
Bathroom is outside. And is ‘al fresco’! With minimum privacy.
3. We had to supply our own toilet paper after the ‘complimentary’ half was finished.
We had to ask for our towels and sheets to be laundered.
Overall impression was that the room was run on a scant budget.....dodgy light switches, difficult blinds to operate for privacy,
No lights in half the room. Uncomfortable bench seat to sit on, resembling a church pew.
We cut our 11 night stay to 9 and donated the balance of the money to the owner!

You knew this studio accommodation was non self catering. Its a bed and breakfast unit. You should have booked self contained for $15 more, but you insisted you needed separate beds, and thats why you booked the studio. You then insisted on making it self catering, by asking certain privileges, and we gave you what ever you asked, as we try to please our guests and show exemplary hospitality.
We gave you certain extras to make your stay special. ( next guests will not be given this privilege, because its always the ones who get the extra privilege who moan and complain after, about the pettiest minor things)
I am very disappointed in your review; its not actually a review, just a list of complaints, as you spent the money and now crying over it. In a review you supposed to mention good points and bad points, that is what a review is.
This is a beach house, eco nature accommodation, and beautifully furnished. We in one of the best, if not best locations in Kaiteriteri. You had nothing good to say, despite us giving you five stars. (We will not return insult for insult. We show exemplary hospitality and treat our guests like family, give the best we can.)
Personally, I think thats because the nature of things is determined by the inward disposition of the soul. That is, a man gets his ideas about his neighbour or property, by what he himself is.
Firstly the accommodation ( the studio unit in this case) is semi detached to the house and completely private separated by huge solid rimu wood folding doors which are sound proof. Own roof, and semi detached to main dwelling as built on in 2009..This attaches to our lounge and dining room which we don’t use this part of the house when guests are staying, so really don’t know the noise you talking about. One hears absolutely no noise from other guests or visitors in main part of the house, only when we preparing pizzas for guests. The house is earthquake proof, and only noise is you walking on floors. It also is extremely peaceful and quiet and any noise you hear may seem louder.
Solid yellow wood couch, with beautiful chairs and table and even a recliner made of special wood. Brand new mattresses.
(Donated the money to the owner. Thank you but no thank you. ) You booked peak season. You are not entitled to a refund. You prevented others from staying as there is a shortage of pristine accommodation, and cut your stay due to family problems.
You were given toilet paper, free washing powder too. ??

Sunny beach-view unit

Disappointing

Two days before arrival I received a msg asking us to phone the manager advising of our arrival time to meet him to get the keys and pay bond in cash. The phone number given was incorrect! The owner was also uncontactable. And how are we supposed to know when we will arrive when we are on the road. Luckily the manager was waiting for us when we arrived. The apartment has very limited sea views (not important but misleading) and there was no WiFi which was advertised. Overall the description of the property was ambitious. At least the manager was prompt for the check out and return of our bond. Not a pleasurable experience overall. Also no restaurants were open in Kaiteriteri at night in May.

After every booking we receive we send an email requesting bond which is fully refundable on proper vacating. You signed a registration when you arrived, and shows clearly our terms. We request bond deposit as security because we do not take your credit card details. All accommodations require security,, and this. In order to maintain our high standard of cleanliness and the pristinity of the unit for all future guests to enjoy, we ask for this bond deposit. My manager knew your time of arrival, so your complaint about the owner not being contactable is not valid. My manager went to the extra trouble to provide a bowl of fresh fruit and flowers too in the unit. Why not compliment him! You were given free TV instead of wifi, as the owner is away, and wifi not provided for one month in the year. So sorry you were disatisfied with the view. Makes absolutely no sense to me, as the view is one of the best sea views in Kaiteriteri and we are one of three properties on the beach in the whole of Kaiteriteri, 50 to 60 meters from the waters edge, and the property was purchased because of its amazing location.

Rules and no warm welcome. Be nice or go home was the landlords message.
Publié le 5 mars 2019 sur HomeAwayMany rules and controls. When we arrived Paul talked 30 minutes about rules like not walk on his new wooden floor. Wi-Fi not available between 10pm and 7am. Risk otherwise for braintumors. For us with a time difference of 12 hours very hard to connect with old parents in Sweden and our kids. More over when I cocked lambhamburgers in the kitchen I was told to do this outside. We did not use any other spices than salt and pfeffer. Then the stove was removed outside. Luckily no rain during our 7days at thishouse. If breaking rules you were going to be charged. Paul mentioned this several times. We are a quiet tidy couple but were treated as we were inresponsible children. Blankets and towels you were charged extra for was not changed during one week. Plates and glasses were a mismatch. No table in the room to eat. Outside an old café table that was very unstable. The positive was the beautiful nature.

Our guide lines are in place FOR YOU, THE GUESTS, to ensure equal opportunity for all guests to enjoy this pristine accommodation: Terms &conditions are signed & agreed upon arrival.
FREE Wifi & micro wave free sleep 10pm to 7am.(FOR YOU)
We have NO RULES, we don’t accommodate children as they break rules.
We simply request, as per eco guide lines, to avoid odious contamination of bedroom linen&curtains.(health&safety)
Guests contaminated unit with cooking odours, almost every night, hence leaving a stench in the unit which had to be professionally removed.
The stove was left outside, plugged in, overnight & so we removed it each evening for safety.
Guests were not tidy, on the contrary extremely messy & on vacating left the unit absolutely filthy & every dish, pot, pan& utensil had ;to be washed and cleaned.
These guests were in breach of the safety guide lines that they signed and agreed on check in.
Guest was not charged a cleaning fee, as we have always fully refunded security bond,,and in hind site, this should not have been refunded. Guests misinterpreted ECO guide lines & blatantly lied as follows:
Guests were treated with respect, never threatened to charge them.
There is a table; 2 beautiful Rimu wood& leather chairs to eat on in the unit
The aluminium table & chairs outside is charming& stable.
Where are the positive attributes ?Look at the other reviews!
The Unit is self contained, is not serviced & self-catering.
The guests report is full of misunderstanding & exaggeration.
2 stars given for this accommodation is just a reflection of the guest.
