Appropriately priced, the house is very warm, clean and comfortable with fabulous sea views from every room. Would definitely stay again

Arrived to find a building site
Publié le 6 mars 2024 sur HomeAwayBooked 12 months in advance as part of a present for my wife. I received check-in details two days before arrival.
When we arrived, the house was surrounded by scaffolding, was missing windows, had warning signs for live wires, and had builders on-site doing extensive internal repairs. It was entirely uninhabitable and the builders had no knowledge of our booking.
Host didn't answer multiple phone calls from me or bookabach customer support. Eventually got a refund, but with no other places available, we ended up having to sleep 4 people in our car.

Richard, your booking as I explained in the day was meant to be cancelled - which was a terrible admin error on our part. There was no way we would’ve rented it out as you have described. I immediately responded to your message as soon as I saw it that day, and acknowledge I had missed some calls earlier. I also refunded you immediately as I told you, but there would have been a delay from Bookabach end processing that. I also tried to find you alternative accommodation and would have paid for it too, but unfortunately a concert in Dunedin meant there wasn’t much available. It is normal practice to give out check in details just before check in day as we like to change the password for the lockbox. Bookabach aall so automatically send checkin details out which is what you received. I sincerely apologise for this error, and that it ruined your trip. I have offered you a free stay another time but I understand that you might not want to return. I understand your disappointment and frustration, and am sure this wouldn’t happen again.
