"The Fairways at Mauna Lani", is a private gated community of luxury homes on the Kohala Coast located inside the world-renown Mauna Lani Resort. The Mauna Lani Resort, also home to The Fairmont Orchid and the Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection Hotel are located 25 minutes north of the Kailua-Kona Airport.
Nestled along the stunning Kohala Coast and in the piko, or spiritual center, of five great mountains, Mauna Lani is a sacred oasis where generations of families and friends have made memories together on soulful lands once cherished by the greatest of Hawaiian royalty.

The Mauna Lani Beach Club is one of the best kept secrets on the Big Island. This protected beach has a restaurant, Napua, that looks over Makaiwa Bay and historic Kalahuipua’a fishponds. Makaiwa Bay is protected by a cove where swimmers and snorkelers enjoy the calm waters and an abundance of tropical fish!

The surface waters of the open ocean around Mauna Lani range from 77 °F (25 °C) between late February and early April, to a maximum of 83 °F (28 °C) in late September or early October. With water temperatures this mild for hundreds of miles around, the air that reaches Hawaii is neither very hot nor very cold. The water temperature is wonderful for swimming year-round. Come enjoy an experience of our slice of Big Island Paradise.

This home features two bedrooms and three bathrooms, approximately 1700 square feet of living space, in addition to two Lanai. Perfect for a small family on vacation or two couples.

The Fairways sports lava rock waterfalls, an outdoor jacuzzi/spa, and a free form pool with an attached kid pool. The jacuzzi/spa, pool, and air conditioned exercise room are a short walk, providing the perfect blend of convenience and privacy.

Activities and Amenities Abound in The Mauna Lani Resort! - Beach, Pool, Spa, Golf, Tennis, and Shopping ... to name a few!

A walk south from the Fairways, leads to the The Shops at Mauna Lani, a unique shopping center featuring art galleries, gift stores, and a well appointed Foodland gourmet grocery store. While at The Shops at Mauna Lani, you may enjoy weekly hula performances, live Hawaiian music, ukulele instruction and lei making classes.

Two fabulous gourmet restaurants are located in the resort; Brown’s Beach House and Tommy Bahama Restaurant and Bar. Have dinner or cocktails while watching the sunset at the Tommy Bahama Restaurant and Bar or Brown’s Beach House.

Enjoy drinks at the Fairmont's Ocean Bar, while watching the sea turtles come ashore on the white sand beach. The Fairmont Orchid has a fantastic beach, extremely kid friendly and offers many water sports activities for rent/purchase.

Two golf courses are available at the Mauna Lani Resort; The South Course, with its signature "over-the-water" 15th green, and The North Course, both designed by Francis H. I'i Brown. Several additional world-class courses are located 10 to 15 minutes from the home. At the Waikoloa Beach Resort, you can choose The Beach Course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. or The King's Course, designed by Tom Weiskopf. At the Mauna Kea resort you will find, a Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed course, and at the Hapuna Beach, an Arnold Palmer designed course.

As for Beaches, the Mauna Lani Resort offers a private "Beach Club", as a guest in the home, you have VIP drive in gate privileges. Two of Hawaii's infamous and fabulous beaches are a 5 minute car ride, South you will find Anaehoomalu Bay also know as "A" Bay, this perfect crescent shaped white sand beach, offers snorkeling, windsurfing, kayaking, and whale watching or you can simply relax under the shade of a palm tree. Located to the north, beachcombers and surfers alike, will enjoy Hapuna Beach next to Waialea Bay, a lively surfers beach next door to the Hapuna Prince Beach Hotel.

The well-appointed kitchen includes granite counter-tops, stainless steel appliances, rice cooker, blender, toaster, coffee maker/grinder, and complete cooking tools, ready for your time in Paradise!

The master bedroom and bathroom on the second floor, include a king-size bed, walk-in closet, flat panel LED-TV, island inspired ceiling fan, en suite bathroom with dual sinks, separate soaking tub, separate walk-in shower, and a sitting area, with a private Lanai.

Another Great Stay!
Returning guest to this unit. As always, very clean with ample supply of household goods, great and convenient location to pool, wonderful kitchen goods for cooking and grill is excellent. Nice selection of beach chairs and sunshades for visits to less developed beaches as well. Mark is a terrific host and makes sure guests have all questions answered and needs met. Very responsive to questions. Enjoyed walks to beach, the Shops and great dining! Thank you for another memorable and wonderful stay!

We very much enjoyed our 17 nights at Mark’s condo. The condo is large, well furnished, very well decorated, with a well equipped kitchen and every beach toy you’d ever want. It is close to the pool, which can be a bit noisy (but wasn’t often while we were there). The view from the second floor balcony is nice, but unfortunately plantings somewhat obscure the view from the ground floor patio (but also act as a privacy screen for the unit). Mark is very responsive. We would stay there again.

Unfortunately the listing and price of unit is based on number of guests which was never disclosed. Sleeps 4 was listed, we fully paid for 2 guests, then invited friends and rate was raised $54.00 per night. Informed 2 weeks prior to booking and not able to change booking or deny friends usage. Unit is nice but extremely uncomfortable outdoor furniture and dining chairs. We left Tommy Bahama umbrellas and owner chose not to reimburse. And uncomfortable having a ring video camera at unit… seems invasive. We will never rent this unit again and we love other condos at Fairways Mauna Lani.

Wonderful Place to Stay at Mauna Lani!
We absolutely loved Mark's place! It was the perfect location at the perfect resort. Close to golf, the beach and groceries. Clean and very nicely decorated it was a wonderful place to call home while on vacation. Mark checked in regularly to make sure we were ok and answered questions promptly. The bedrooms are very large and the king size bed in the master suite is extremely comfortable. We were also very pleased with how quiet it was at night. We will be returning!

Absolutely the best!
We had such a wonderful stay! We are a family a five, and while this condo would be perfect for 2 couples with the 2 ensuite rooms, it worked great for our family! We loved having the rooms for sleeping upstairs, and the living space downstairs so my husband and I could work/watch TV while the kids slept. The location is amazing, a short walk to the beach at the Fairmont hotel, or a longer walk to the beach near the Mauna Launi. So many wonderful beaches to visit and explore! Although we especially loved just staying on the property. The pool was beautiful and there was even a kid friendly pool that our kids were in at least 4 hours daily! The place itself was so well equipped, with plenty of beach equipment, towels, and non-perishable foods to use so you don't need to buy salt/pepper or oils for cooking! The beds were incredibly comfortable and having 3 bathrooms was so convenient. Mark has done a beautiful job decorating, it was lovely. Mark was great to work with. We asked for a high chair which he made available the day we arrived. It was brand new so I assume he purchased just for us! It was nicer than our high chair at home :) We will definitely be visiting again!

The place was great - well equipped, clean, and easy to access. The rental contract beforehand felt a bit excessive, but overall the owner was helpful and responsive. Would definitely recommend for a family vacation in Hawaii!

We had a very nice stay at this unit. The kitchen was well equipped with everything needed to prepare a meal. The decor and furnishings are nice. The bedding was very comfortable ( we are planning to purchase the same brand of pillow as it was fabulous!). The location of the unit was very convenient to the pool and although the unit faces a commons area (with a lovely view) we never felt a lack of privacy while sitting out on the patio or upstairs balcony. The Fairways complex is very nice and this unit is an excellent value. The pictures don’t do it justice. Only hiccup was no bath soap or body wash in either bathroom but Foodland is 3 minutes away so we could find it there. I assume this was just something that cleaning staff missed restocking before our stay.

This is such a nice place, very comfortably set up
As a VRBO user I appreciate having a kitchen. This kitchen has all,of the things you need to be comfortable. The washer and dryer makes packing easier. Alll of the things you need for a great trip are provided. You get a pass for the club at the beach, but you can also use the black sand 49 beach for only $20 per car. Both beaches have excellent snorkeling. I snorkeled about 4 hours per day. Awesome water clarity. Vibrant reef. Lots,of fish, eels, turtles, lobsters, and more. We hope to return again soon. We hope to stay here again. 10 out of 10. Mahalo

This is our 4th trip to the Big island and the best stay by far. Beautiful, clean condo... Our host was extremely helpful and responsive and his place is perfect! We had everything we needed... Property is a very nice layout, very well maintained and clean. Incredibly well stocked with cleaning and cooking supplies, dishes and essentials. Bedding is quite comfortable and location is very convenient to pool. Mark is a very responsive host and answers inquiries quickly ensuring guests issues are addressed promptly. Keep the blinds drawn in the guest bedroom to prevent uneven temperature in the unit as it receives full sunlight during the day. Definitely look forward to returning again!

Everything about this property is wonderful and better than the photos. The location is perfect as it includes access to the private beach club that is perfect for snorkeling and for families with small children (calm waters). The condo is so well maintained and stocked with everything you need! We were surprised to find a fully stocked "beach closet" that included snorkel gear, boogie boards, noodles, toys, chairs. They had more beach gear than a previous home rented in the Mauna Lani complex a few years back. The host is wonderful being readily available for any needs and made check-in quite easy. We enjoyed our stay and hope to be back!

Odd Experience
Pros-nice location, very clean place, quiet Cons-just days before your trip you will suddenly receive a lengthy contract from the owner chock full of warnings and legalese. Which at this point you have to sign or forfeit your money. Next the whole place is a “smart house” which the owner controls remotely and we quickly discovered he watches you come and go thru his doorbell. This raises the question of what else he’s watching or listening to. Sets a creepy tone in a light-hearted place like Hawaii. Next comes the fight over the AC with no instructions for how to use it (and you won’t be given any). He keeps it at 74 degrees but it ranges above the set point so it goes higher than that. With the heat and humidity it was so stuffy in this place we were really uncomfortable. He didn’t respond to our email request to have it lowered (you have no direct number for this guy) but without telling us at some point he remotely reset it to 70. It still cranks right back up the minute you leave (he’s watching). Place heats up again and you have to fiddle with the thermostat over and over and wait for it to cool back down. This back and forth continued the entire time. He then went ahead and charged us for lowering the AC from “his” level and took a substantial amount out of our $600.00 damage deposit to pay for it. So if you prefer your own AC level be aware it may be assessed as a damage. Weirdly you will be warned not to move anything in the unit. Don’t adjust furniture or any items and they must be left exactly how you found them. Uh. Okay. Not here to do interior design but whatever. Overall the entire experience with this owner was unpleasant despite the nice unit. I hesitated to write about this because he will lash out at anyone who says something negative and blame them, but if you go further back in the reviews other people note these same issues and worse. Unfortunately we only read the first few reviews.
