A great stay in a wonderful place. The staff from check-in to check-out, were wonderful, even when communication was complicated (some of the older staff of this family-run place spoke Japanese only, but made all the efforts in the world to ease communication and every one was incredibly friendly, helpful and smiley). The meals served both for in-room dinner and communal hall breakfast were simply unbforgettable and justify the stay at this ryokan by themselves. The amenities are a little outdated (we at times felt we were in a Japanese version of an episode of Mad Men), but defintiely full of charm, and inherently Japanese (tatami mats, the futons are folded out for the guests in the evening, paper-screen doors, etc...) - so this is definitely something one has to be aware of before booking. We loved it.
The place is immacutely clean and the Wifi works absolutely great.
