Beware - our payment was not passed over

When we checked in we were told that our payment had not been received by the hotel. We tried to call the call centre but after about an hour on the phone we still didn’t have any answers. So we had to pay again. Someone stole our money!!! I am still trying to get to the bottom of it but have had no luck as of yet.

Reception area is not well marked. Took a few minutes to find it. Room was not ready at 14H30 in the afternoon. We had to sign for the room contents. I had a cheese burger for dinner. Probably the second worst burger I have ever had. the worst was also at the same restaurant a few years back. My wife was not impressed with the ribs she ordered. Room was OK, but the bed was noisy, and the outside table was broken.

shocking service

Check-in was a disaster! The rooms was not ready at 14:00pm normal check-in time. We went for lunch at the local restaurant/pub to allow the preparation of rooms to be completed. After returning from lunch to our allocated rooms, the rooms were occupied by new guests. We were showed new rooms which were again still not ready for use.

Bring insect repellant

The hotel is conveniently situated next to the Kgalagadi Transkalahari Highway, the main artery connecting Namibia to Botswana and the north-eastern parts of South Africa (e.g. Johannesburg). It therefore makes for a good halfway stop. The facilities are good, clean and spacious rooms, a swimming pool, coffee/tea making facilities. As such, it is ideal. It has two drawbacks, though: 1. It has no WiFi in theroom, only in the restaurant, which closes at 9pm. 2. The second issue is a major problem. The room was teaming with mosquitos and other insects, and there was no insecticide or insect repellant provided. When phoning the reception, they could not help, as one would have to buy some from the adjacent shop, which was closed, as it was past 10pm already when I phoned. They also did not have anything at reception. This made for a very uncomfortable and restless night, with little sleep. Not ideal for hitting the long road again the next day. For the price paid and the rating it gets from Botswana tourism, one would have expected better. This definitely should be addressed. As such, my recommendation would be to bring your own unsect repellant if you want to stay there, especially during the summer months.

We arrived late, NO WIFI at all, we did not stay as I books. no garden view. the line was not change or not clean.
