Old good hotel

Old good hotel. Good location for ski in/ski out. Ski depot is small. Room could be organized in practical way and furniture could be refreshed. Spa is simple one.

The rooms had lots of storage space for luggage. Beds and pillows were a bit hard but ok. No safe to lock valuable stuff in. Dinner was good but serving hours a bit short. Not the best service in the restaurant and in the reception. Nice spa!

Be Warned

As a family of 6 we did a lot of research before going to Gudauri. Carpe Diem website promises a swimming pool, a sauna and a bar. Three things important to our family holidays. Imagine our disappointment when we arrived to find no bar at all and a pool and sauna still under construction! Communication is much to be improved as we were told every day by the reception staff that ‘the pool will be open tomorrow’! False promises and fake smiles. The resort is isolated from the village and without a bar it is a real inconvenience to walk 20 mins every night to the Ski Village for a decent bar. The food is poor. Cold chips and pasta on offer at breakfast! The coffee machines are painfully slow and guests queue for a half cup. Popular dishes are not replaced quickly enough and anyone late for breakfast will find odd scraps only. The ski hire shop was also still under refurbishment and the staff lacked all knowledge of the resort ski runs and lifts open etc! Simple basic conveniences had been overlooked. Eg. Mirrors in the rooms, hooks in the bathroom to hang towels, no curtains at the upstairs bedroom windows, no thought given to fire escapes in the upstairs bedroom (of exec suites). The GM was hugely apologetic and empathetic but that only goes so far and sadly the owners do not appear to be listening or empowering him to improve the situation and save the poor reputation of this resort hotel. Give this one a miss for another 6 months would be our advice

Dear guest, thank you very much for your feedback. Your comments came as a huge disappointment to all of us as we work day and night to make the stay of our guests very special. We did have a bar but removed the information about it from our website and all booking websites the day we started the renovation. The spa centre is now up and running and I hope you will visit us again to check it out. Our hotel holds the ISO 9001:2015 certificate for establishing and applying a Quality Management System. As part of the process of acquiring the certificate, we implemented the safety and security system, including the signs for the fire escapes. Your comments regarding the food are heard and I will deliver them to our team. I would like to personally meet and greet you should you decide to give us another chance in the future. Greit nok med kort avstand til det ene skitrekket. Savnet det sosiale.. Vil du se mer mennesker og ha litt variasjon i kosten er New Gudauri et mye bedre alternativ med flere hoteller, restauranter, barer og butikker. Herfra kommer du i tillegg til en bedre posisjon i skianlegget med gondolen.

The website promises a pool a sauna and a bar however, sadly none of these things were available. The food is poor and rooms lack basic things like a mirror, hooks for hanging wet towels, curtains and decent pillows!

We probably had the bar when you saw it on our website, but it is also under renovation and had been removed from the website the day renovation started.
