While it can be great for some people, it was not the most suitable for me and my wife. I booked the bamboo canopy.
What's great:
- Parking is free.
- Greenery is great and refreshing.
- Dining room and views from it are great.
- Great host
- They provide free towels, shampoos, cooking materials, free coffee in the dining area, cookware and silverware to use.
Issues for us:
- Light was too dim for the room, not bright enough even in the day.
- The shared restrooms were too remote. They have compost bathroom which means no use of water. Not very convenient. Shower was also not too great cause of no door, only covered by curtains.
- Too many insects, geckos everywhere and some spiders.
- Taking luggage from car to the room was very hard and far, had to go through all the grass.
- The sounds of insects at night is too loud.
- Spotty wifi and network.
I think this is best for people who are staying 1 or 2 nights with small bags and are well prepared. If you decide to stay here, here's a few tips:
- Don't bring big luggage.
- Bring some bright lights for room.
- Bring bug body spray and anti-itch cream.

Hi Hemanta. We are sorry you were disappointed by your stay. This is definitely a nature immersion. It is for people looking to get away from the city, unwind and rest. Mrs too our guests absolutely love that about us as you can see from our reviews. Expedia has no description so it is difficult to explain to guests about our natural setting. It seems as though you were looking for more of a hotel experience and booked us because we were inexpensive. Hotels in Hawaii are more than double the price. In any case we aim to please and are saddened buy every guest who isn't thrilled about our location. We hope you were still able to enjoy your vacation.

Gingerhill Farm Retreat is a true gem! It’s a real oasis inside the jungles. You are very close to the nature. It’s a magical place and the owners and the volunteers are super welcoming, nice and helpful. Highly recommended!

The garden cabin far exceeded our expectations. We had an amazing Hawai’i experience living in a jungle of every fruit you could imagine with an incredible view. So peaceful and quiet I could have spent my entire time on the island on that property.

Our favorite stay!

We stayed in ocean front condos, rainforests volcanic caves, and cute motels, but this place was absolutely our favorite! We loved Kimba, the cat, the goats, the chickens, and the big ol pig!! The frogs and stars are night are wonderful. We were greeted at the beginning by a very kind person. She walked us to our cabin and showed us around.
We stayed at the bamboo cabin (BEAUTIFUL!) bamboos everywhere! we had out restroom, kitchen area, fridge, and shower. It was so cozy and romantic.

便宜，老板人也不错。但是没空调，旱厕，全是蚊虫，夜里全是虫子的叫声，不容易睡着。

Sorry you didn't enjoy your stay, Xianchu. It is true that the women's room is a flush toilet and the mens toilet is a compost toilet. Additionally there are some mosquitoes and insects here in Hawaii. All of that is written in our description. This is a farm, and people come here for a nature experience. The singing at night is frogs. They are everywhere on Big Island. many of our guests love them and say they have never slept better in their lives. Too bad you didn't enjoy them.
