Maison Jacqueline is a country home located in Sonoma county's Valley of the Moon and in the heart of the wine county. It appeals to local
San Franciscans and out of town folks as well. It is only 1.5 hours from SF airport. Maison Jacqueline is a country cottage styled with good taste and comfort, combining local charm and modern living. When you cross over the foot bridge and enter through the gate you feel instantly relaxed. Especially when you see the hot tub...wink...She has 3 bedrooms, 1 den, 2 bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen with indoor and out door dining areas. The living room has a flat screen TV giving friends and family a center for entertainment. There is a wrap around deck with a gas grill, a dining area and a lounge area. Maison Jacqueline was recently renovated featuring new hardwood floors, windows, new appliances and fixtures. She has a wrap around deck with 3 shade umbrellas, and a Weber gas grill. My favorite is the hot tub tucked away under the plum trees. It is a little piece of heaven...
The scenic drive from the hustle and bustle of San Francisco is just the beginning of your amazing getaway. Lakeview highway is the route that takes you through hills and valleys covered in grape vines and fields of wheat as far as the eye can see. You will see horse ranches ranging from “mini” horses to Clydesdales, more recognizably know as the Budweiser horses. It will take your breath away! Stop at the eclectic Earnie’s Tin Bar frequented by the locals for a sophisticated microbrew on your way. Quirky and fun! End your 1.5 hour journey from SF at the doorstep of Maison Jacqueline. A breath of fresh air and a pocket of heaven.
Google Sonoma County Regional Parks facilities. It's a great site for out door activities.
Kenwood is in the heart of Sonoma wine country, lying east of Sonoma Creek in the upper part of Sonoma Valley. “The Valley of the Moon”. Bennett Mountain lies west of the town, and Sugarloaf Ridge to the northeast. There are 3 state parks in the vicinity where mountain biking and hiking are to die for. There are 2 mountain bikes at the house for you to use.
As you drive through Glen Ellen on your way here, you may want to stop and pick up wine, cheese, local produce, dairy, meats, and fish at The Glen Ellen Village Market (right side of Arnold), boasting an amazing deli with beautiful food to go. Across the street you will notice Les Pascals a newish Patisserie that is amazing !!! and you may experience local flavor at the Wolf House bar and grill, a former haunt of Jack London. Don’t leave there without trying the onion rings! Sit outside by the river. A heavenly spot.
Once you have settled in, you may want to walk over to Muscardini's wine tasting room, just a couple of blocks up Cypress Ave on the corner of Hwy 12. It’s a local favorite. Sit out side and enjoy the view. Or, cool off in their wine tasting room. If your lucky James will be there, he plays super cool music and will give you a wine tasting you will totally enjoy. VJB is 2 blocks up 12 just before Cafe Citti. It has a gorgeous wine tasitng room and a fabulous deli dept. VJB is a family owned vineyard, who are originally from Itlay. Visit their high quality deli and their own locally produced wines. Kunde and Kenwood wineries are up Cypress on an route 12, both have good wine and lovely tasting rooms with out door seating.
Kenwood village is only 4 blocks away. Try Palooza, a fun casual beer and wine bar with great food and locally brewed beer and ales. Most nights they have Ping Pong tournaments ! Café Citti, just before Kenwood village on 12 has "light" Northern Italian cuisine with a casual atmosphere, home made pastas and sauces, just like Nonna would make. Salt and Stone is wonderful and has good bar area that serves food if you feel spontaneous and don't have reservations. Or just relax, have a glass of wine. Take a hot tub, and/or lay in the hammock to read or check your email.

Sonoma Valley is full of fun things to do. Whether you're into bird watching or skydiving, hiking, picnicking, horseback riding, or biking, ballooning, golfing, or gliding, there's something fun for everyone in our area. If you’d like to see the Pacific ocean, it’s about an hour drive out to the coast. Good oyster tasting, kayaking, and walks on the beach.
To get even more relaxed we can arrange for a private chef and/or massage therapists on site. And there is one of the World's top spas rated by Conde Nast magazine just a couple of minutes up on 12, with a lovely pool.
Sonoma Valley has been rated as one of the top destinations in the world for food and wine. Come on up...
Sonoma Square:
Is a 15-minute drive from Kenwood. There are unique shops, a multitude of restaurants, and a wonderful cheese store right there on the square. A farmers market is held on weekends.
My favorite restaurant on the square is “The Girl and the Fig” It is wonderful! A must “go to” restaurant. I advise making reservations ahead of time. She also has a sister restaurant in the town of Glen Ellen only 7 minutes down Rt. 12 that is equally delicious.
Suggestions of local wineries:
Kunde, Chateau Sr jean, Matanzas, BR Cohn, Chalk Hill, Schug, Anaba, Sabastiani, Tin Barn, Gloria Ferrer, Armida.
I love Kunde right across the street on 12. The wine is delicious and the outdoor tasting area is in a gorgeous setting. The people who work there are terrific, and I recommend taking the cave tour, it’s free and very informative.
Things to do:
Sonoma Valley is alive with activities and places to go. Morton’s Hot Springs on Warm Springs Road is traditional for families who grew up in the bay area. Take a swim, have a picnic by the creek. Relax no worries…
