Relaxing Staycation

Publié le 27 oct. 2024 sur HomeAway
Love staying at this beautiful cottage and being so close to the beach and great restaurants and shopping. Truly the best way to experience this side of the island of Maui. Elaine is a wonderful host and very helpful. The pool is my favorite experience here can't wait to return.

Great comfy cottage in Kihei!

Publié le 20 oct. 2024 sur HomeAway
Overall - great stay in the rental, all the amenities listed, and other items provided are accurate. The pool area is nice, pool has recently been redone. We met the host a couple times, and they were very kind, friendly and communicative. I noticed in a few other reviews that others complained about there being "too many rules". I worried about this before arriving, my take: - Home is in a normal neighborhood; they need to get along with/respect neighbors. - There are rules posted in a few areas, and within a booklet that has a lot of repetition - But really rules are: pool hours, don't leave the outdoor lights on all night, and reminder about it being a neighborhood. Nothing crazy at all, and if you put yourself in the shoes of folks who live nearby, it all seems totally understandable. I rated this 5 stars (we loved it), but I do want to mention a couple things so folks staying are aware: - The house does not have central air - it has 3 smaller wall units to cool. The host asks you don't run these when you are not home, which means returning to a sauna every day. I understand not wasting power, but coming home from an exhausting day of activities or just being in the sun and walking into a sauna was unfortunate. - Slide - the slide is only available between 9a-5a each day, which really bummed out my son who looked forward to this most before our trip and most days we weren't back before 5.

SO MANY RULES

Publié le 1 août 2024 sur HomeAway
There was an ungodly amount of rules at this property. So much so that we left the last two nights and booked a resort instead. There were a good amount on the listing, but I just figured the owners must have been taken advantage of in the past, so they are super firm upfront. The first thing they ask you to do, which most places also ask, is that you read the rule book. But holy moly, the rules are out of control. One example: "NO MARCO POLO. ITS ANNOYING." No slime, no play doh, no loud noises (in an outdoor pool!?), no sunscreen, no sitting on beds after applying sunscreen, no falling asleep on the couch and the most shocking to me was there is a rule that states if you are a woman on your period you must sleep on or sit on a towel anytime you are on the beds or couch. I just felt like I was the fun police and nervous we were going to get charged for breaking a rule the entire time we were there. It's also odd to me that none of the prior reviews mentioned these absurd rules! As far as the property itself it's gorgeous and equipped with everything needed for a day at the beach which was lovely!

Wow, I send guests when booking the rules which I think has 4 , one about parking and quiet hours per Maui County Permit. Another is do not use the sofa as a bed as guests were showing up with more guests than told and using it as a bed it's brand new and took over a year to come to Maui. The blue binder in the cottage shares info. Most everything written in there is just common sense info, NOT rules .Like why would a parent allow a child to spray slim all over the ceiling or play at a pool where a child needs to scream for hours on end? We have grandchildren, we love kids to have fun .When renting in a community in a private home yes , games like Marco Polo are the one thing my neighbors get upset with. So in the binder, I ask please don't play that game, However, once again these are suggestions, not rules as you put it. The new reef-safe sunscreen is so hard to remove . Once it gets on the sheets and bedspreads you just need to throw them away. Really how hard is it to go outside on the lanai and put sunscreen on ,YEA holy moly .All of this is such common sense that I'm even surprised that I have to make these suggestions to keep a beautiful vacation rental. I also shared I lost my husband a month ago and I wasn't even home while you were there so no one was even there. As you even mentioned no one in any review in 13 years renting our cottage has written such a review . How sad you couldn't enjoy our beautiful property as 100s of guests have . Some folks just need to stay in resorts. I'm heartbroken from losing my husband of 42 years and now to read my 1 st ever review like this just was very disappointing.

Home away from home

Our stay was enjoyed by all. Essentials plus extras were provided. The pool was well enjoyed by both kids and adults! Waking to the pleasant sounds of birds, enjoying nearby beaches, and many options to eat out or stay in were much appreciated by our family. We are thankful Elaine shared her place with us, we have many memorable experiences.

Maui Gem!

Publié le 4 juill. 2024 sur HomeAway
Our family had a wonderful stay at Elaine’s bungalow during our visit to Maui. After spending the day exploring the island, we enjoyed returning to the house for pool time and relaxation. The entire property felt like our own private resort! One of the features we loved was the large, well manicured space outside to run around and chase lizards. The house was clean, cozy, and stocked with all the home essentials one would need including kitchen necessities and beach gear like towels, chairs, coolers, etc. We truly felt the house enhanced our trip to Maui and highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique, exceptional, off-resort property in Hawaii.

Fantastic place!

Publié le 29 févr. 2024 sur HomeAway
We so enjoyed staying here, it was my husband and I with our 24 year old daughter and her boyfriend. Let me just say, none of us were too old to enjoy the pool and the water slide! It was so fun to have a pool that we could play beach ball volleyball in and just lay back on a floaty and listen to the millions of birds! The gazebo out by the pool was a lovely place to sit and watch the sunset in the evening. There are so many great beaches so close by and the town of Kehei is full of restaurants and food trucks. We loved having our own grill, we ate on the lanai most nights. It was nice to have laundry facilities so we could pack less. The house was clean as could be, well stocked, and just right for 4 of us. Elaine and Alfie were very pleasant but certainly not looming about. I would definitely like to stay here again!

Everything here is great!! The outdoor area is perfect for sun and shade. A great place to be before or after the beach. All amenities included and having a washer/dryer is the best! The reclining sofa is perfect for relaxing after a day out and about.

Easy in Maui

Great guest house. Easy to access everything on the island and outdoor space was great. Host can “theoretically” use the pool and that being said we never saw them.

Mahalo for the nice review. We do like to give our guest their privacy at the pool.Sometimes our grandbabies come over and that's when we use the pool ,which isn't too often ..Aloha hope to have you again
