Great cottage for a long weekend, perfect for visiting Killarney and the surrounding area and hiking. The cottage has everything we needed and the host was very helpful and welcoming.

Rustic

Publié le 29 oct. 2024 sur HomeAway
The cottage was very rustic. Other than where it’s situated it’s a very charming little cottage. The problem is what the listing doesn’t not convey. There is no parking on site. Parking is across a relatively busy street. Inside the amenities had their charm but were old. Inside things felt cramped. Nice deck by a stream.

Cottage Mary Rose is situated in the Cordal Valley with a private garden and stream behind the cottage. All of the pictures show exactly what to expect. A charming cottage with antique furniture mixed in with more modern. The cathedral ceiling in the hearth room gives it a spacious feel. The parking is indicated on our site and clearly notes that it is across the road from the cottage. Keep in mind this is a farm road so not wide. It is called The Olde Butter Rd. And I wouldn't say that it is busy, but it is used. Although the cottage dates back to the mid 1700's the amazing central heating, increased water pressure, inside Jacuzzi tub and hot tub on the deck take this humble cottage to a different level. We look forward to having you as our guests!

The Cottage Mary Rose has been updated but still holds onto the charm and history of Ireland we were looking for.

The most wonderful vacation experience ever!

Publié le 3 juill. 2024 sur HomeAway
We spent our entire 2 week vacation at Cottage Mary Rose as our home base from which to explore the southwest part of Ireland. It was perfect! Genuine Ireland at its best. The cottage itself is beautiful, cozy, a sanctuary to retreat to after a full day of touring. The manager and caretaker are amazing and so welcoming. The gardens surrounding the cottage and the creek beside it add even more beauty and serenity to this very special haven. We’ve left a part of our hearts here in this lovely place and hope to return soon!

If you want a traditional Irish cottage, this is perfect. Not new and modern, but charming and cozy. Country setting, but near town.

Great stay in an adorable cottage!

Publié le 29 mai 2024 sur HomeAway
Our stay here was wonderful. This cottage has been around for a long time and we appreciated staying in a little piece of history. The cottage felt like our home away from home. We loved the huge deck in the back as well as the hot tub! Great communication with property managers & hosts.

Beautiful thatched roof cottage

Publié le 15 mai 2024 sur HomeAway
We loved this vrbo, it was an authentic Irish cottage. Communication with the host and the local people who help take care of the cottage was great. Timmy the groundskeeper was extremely helpful upon our arrival at the location. Very spaceous, with a large fireplace, full kitchen, washer, dryer. Lots of history and photos of the cottage over the years. Central to Killarney and Dingle. Our favourite!!!

We [family of 6, 3 adults, 3 kids (12, 10, 8)] recently traveled across all of Ireland. We had 3 nights booked at this home. Once arriving, we were instructed to park across the street, and to be careful crossing as its a busy street. That should have been our first red flag. We parked at the CEMETARY (2nd red flag), and entered the property. The grounds are quite lovely, not at all a place for a kids to play however. There is a running stream behind the property, and no safe guard to keep the kids from falling down the ravene. Watch your head when entering through the front door, its a low clearance. There are 2 bathrooms, one where there was no functioning light, and the other with a shower the perfect size for our young kids, maybe. There was very little to no space to put any of our luggage. The house is maxed out on decor, leaving no room to wiggle. We knew immediately that we would not be staying, as none of the kids were happy, and 2 of the adults were quite displeased. So we contacted the owner, William, and asked if we could receive a refund for 2 of the nights and our cleaning fee. He offered to return the cleaning fee and nothing else and requested we not leave a review. He has since opted to not reply to me. This home would offer a rural Ireland experience, and I would not recommend it for small kids. We left within an hour of arriving, and didnt let this one hiccup in our trip affect our plans.

Cottage Mary Rose has been hosting and delighting guests for over 21 years and is a VRBO Premier Partner. We brought tourism to the Cordal valley and the locals have embraced it and the people that visit. All of our photos show the cottage as it is including the interior and the exterior. Also in the description it gives all of the information. This does include the parking which states that it is across the road. There are False statements in the guest review and of course we want to bring them to your attention. It is a farm road that we are on and not a busy street. The parking is not at a cemetery. It belongs to the church which is up the road. So where our guests park is in front of a 5 ft. wall and an open, grassy field. The small cemetery is up the road nearer to the church. From inside the cottage grounds there is a 7 ft. tall dense hedge and it is extremely private. Many children have loved the cottage gardens which surround the cottage. My son was 7 when we first bought the cottage and loved exploring the grounds. Many children have called it the Secret Garden. The comment about the ravine is False. There are pictures of the ravine and stream taken from our very secure deck that has a solid, protective railing. It runs the complete length of the large deck where the dining set and hot tub are. Next to the deck and running the length of the property is the original stone wall that is about 4 ft. high. On the other side of this is the neighboring field. The entire property is surrounded by hedging, rails or stone walls. We are on other rental platforms that require annual safety inspections and have passed every time. The bathroom light does work and the guest must not have realized that it is a dimmer switch. Of course if anyone ever has concerns or questions one of our staff is always available. Our caretaker lives right across the road from the cottage. The en-suite bathroom is in the photos and although on the smaller side, it is suitable for adults and has a massage shower. The main bath mentioned above has a Jacuzzi tub and a rain head shower. Please note that unlike other lodgings, we have increased water pressure for excellent showers. In regard to the decor, once again all of our photos show each room and the furniture for our guests to enjoy. And we do provide luggage racks in each one of the bedrooms. In all of the years that we have been welcoming guests, our ratings have been outstanding. When I first heard there was an issue was in a voice mail that she left me. The guests said that they didnt like the parking and they were leaving. She also asked if there would be any way to get some sort of a refund. According to the VRBO policy, we were not required to issue any refund. However, I wanted to refund the cleaning/prep fee. VRBO said that was up to us. I messaged the guest through VRBO and informed them. Much later that day, she also wanted 2 nights refunded.. We had already been generous enough and I did kindly state this. We could have easily rented the cottage out for this time to someone else. Most people embrace the charm of one of Ireland’s last remaining thatch cottages and really appreciate its historical value. Cottage Mary Rose is on Record of Protected Structures. This prestigious list is to protect these significant structures because they are such an important part of Irish history. Please take time to read our other reviews. We are always happy to answer any queries. Kind Regards, William Harty,
