Kingfisher Cottage is a large luxury 3 bedroom self catering holiday cottage in South Devon, converted from an 18th century stone barn (sleeps 6-7 plus cot).

Although situated in a rural area Kingfisher Cottage benefits from 200 Meg high speed broadband so its suitable for remote working / video calls and streaming on our smart TV’s, as well for keeping all the family connected.

Situated in an idyllic rural setting in South Devon between Salcombe and Dartmouth. Near many beautiful beaches including Slapton Sands (and its well known Slapton Ley Nature Reserve), Blackpool Sands, Torcross and East Portlemouth.

The private terrace overlooks the naturally spring fed duck pond and beautiful shared gardens. It is an ideal setting for al fresco dining with a picnic table and Weber barbecue.

The holiday cottage is built in the secluded Valley Springs, it has its own spring water supply and is surrounded by farmland and the gently rolling countryside of the South Hams, designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Kingfisher Cottage is ideal for those looking for a luxury self catering holiday cottage which offers a perfect haven for relaxation, coupled with privacy, peace and tranquillity.

Wonderful cottage close to beaches
We were a group of 2 families at the cottage for a week and had a good holiday inspite of the weather being wet throughout. There were couple of issues with the internet and electric fuse which was promptly sorted by the owner, however took almost a day to sort. The internet becomes a very critical aspect of the stay since there is no phone network available in this area. The brand new spacious kitchen/dining was the best part as we spent most of our time in the evening. The cottage was quite close to many south devon beaches and we managed to visit a few of these beaches. Most of the beaches/coastal walks were within 25-30 mins drive. Pros - Location, spacious cottage, internet speed, recently refurbished modern kitchen. Cons - More kitchen accessories needed. pet friendly items like bowls etc would be nice to keep.

Kingfisher Cottage
Kingfisher cottage barn conversion was a delightful place to stay. Finished and furnished to a high standard. We loved staying there. The property was very well equipped with everything you could need, we cooked every day in the wonderful kitchen and the children had a great time playing with the toys and reading the books. The host was very welcoming and helpful and the neighbours friendly. We are very happy to recommend it.

Stunning location
We had a lovely week at this cottage. Very homely instantly felt relaxed! The kitchen was very well stocked and and easy to cook in. James has thought of everything throughout the cottage books game’s lovely fire and comfy beds. The weather wasn’t great so spent a lot of time indoors, lots of great pubs locally and beaches when we ventured out between showers! Make sure you pick everything when you’re out when you head back as a quite a way from the shops.

Kingfisher is a beautiful cottage in heart of Devon Countryside.
Kingfisher Cottage is beautiful cottage. The interior is to a high standard. Newly fitted kitchen is a dream kitchen with all modern appliances. Master bedroom extremely large with extra comfy bed and single bed too. Log burner in lounge perfect for wet / cold winter stay perfect place to unwind and enjoy Devon Countryside and Coastline.

Very well equipped and a comfortable house. Lovely kitchen perfect for a family stay. We were however disappointed to not find a Christmas tree, we have always rented houses over Christmas and New year periods and have never experienced this before. I think it would have been good to let us know of this before we arrived on Christmas Eve and we could have made our own Christmas arrangements.

Great family trip
We had a lovely week at Kingfisher Cottage. It’s a very nice family space, plenty of room, very homely and a great kitchen. The bedrooms were also lovely, cosy and very comfortable. It’s close by to lots of lovely beaches as well as being not too far from Dartmoor so we were able to explore a bit of both. Kingfisher Cottage was a lovely place to return to after a day of exploring.

Get away from it all!
Lovely spacious rural property, down the tiny winding lanes to location. Easy access to get to Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Salcombe and surrounding beaches. Really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others - the cottage has all that is required for a comfortable stay.

We had a delightful sunny week in Devon at Kingfisher cottage. The cottage is very comfortable, the kitchen has everything you might need (including a great coffee machine), comfy beds and lots of DVD's and board games to entertain the kids.

Nice cottage in great location
We had a lovely stay at Kingfisher Cottage with a 10 year old and a 7 year old - well-equipped smart kitchen, large bedrooms, outside terrace for evening drinks and food. Great location with the beach and coastal paths just 15 mins away and an easy journey to Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Dartmouth. We also spent a day on Dartmoor, swimming in the Dart and trekking up onto Bench Tor - only a 40 minute drive.

Spacious Rural Retreat
Kingfisher Cottage is a welcoming, comfortable, well equipped, dog friendly, spacious property. Located in a beautiful rural setting with friendly neighbours. A few miles inland from coast and we enjoyed the beaches and stunning coastal walks. James was very apprachable and friendly which made booking and arrival process easy. I would recommend this cottage to all ages and we hope to return.

Owner was most helpful during the booking process and leading up to our stay. Lovely property which has a very well stocked new kitchen and whole house spotlessly clean. Great village pubs and farm shop a short drive away. Perfect for those wishing to escape the crowds as very rural. Highly recommend a stay here.

Quiet location
The cottage was as described on the property details and is situated in a quiet location within a good travelling distance to the beach and good walks. A brand new kitchen had been fitted the week before we arrived which is lovely. Three sizeable bedrooms upstairs providing everything you need. I had read the comments about the location and the narrow lanes. We found that the satnav took us the shortest distance which often was via the lanes. There are alternative routes so you just need to plan your route via main roads if your concerned about the lanes. The farm shop and cafe is well worth a visit, the food and service there is excellent. The owner was very on hand to offer any recommendations and help with any queries.

Great cottage in a rural location
This property had everything needed for a lovely family break in the countryside. The weather was atrocious all week, so thankfully having a cottage such as this one made up for this. The roads by the property can be a little tricky but nothing too bad in my opinion. If you have drove round country roads before then these are no different. Handily located up the road from Stokenham village. Kingsbridge and Dartmouth are both driveable in 15 mins. Good communication prior and throughout with James, particularly when on the first day the WIFI and phone line we're out. BT we're on hand first thing the next day to fix the line. (the weather had clearly impacted this). I would recommend staying here and will likely stay again at this property in the future,

Along Devon country lanes.
The accommodation is one half of a converted barn, while there is another converted barn opposite and the original farmhouse above. There are a number of other residents in the buildings on the property, so you are not completely alone. There is space to park and walk around the common property with its garden and pond. Downstairs there are two large rooms, the combined kitchen and dining room, then a very comfortable lounge room. Upstairs are three bedrooms, the large main bedroom with office table and chair, then two other smaller bedrooms. There are two bathrooms with toilets upstairs, but no toilet downstairs. The cottage has all the appliances as advertised. We could find no mobile reception on any network at the property, so were reliant on the internet, which was best upstairs in the main bedroom. There is a landline, but it can only be used for incoming calls. It may take some time to get used to Devon country lanes, with high hedges and few passing places. The property is a great base for discovering South Devon, with its beautiful coastline and harbours. There is an excellent farm shop nearby to supply most of your needs. A great place to stay. Thoroughly recommended for families.
