Fall Getaway
Publié le 28 oct. 2024 sur HomeAwayThe accomodations were exactly as pictured and described on vrbo. We used the host's restaurant recommendations and were very pleased. The lack of traffic and crowds make this time of year very desirable. The weather was perfect. The proximity to and views of the ocean were spectacular. It is a small, comfy condo that the two of us congratulated ourselves on finding!

Nice condo with view
Publié le 22 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayThe condo was perfect for our weekend getaway for OBX Jeep Invasion. It was nice and cozy. Tucked back in off the main roads in a quiet community. Listening to the waves and the view was peaceful and beautiful. The town of Duck is a nice place!

Dune Nest
Publié le 1 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayI’ll start on a positive note - communication with the owners was good. I liked that the unit was self-entry via a keypad. And I liked that this unit was ocean-facing and just a short boardwalk from the beach.
However the property, building, and unit were all very dated and run-down so we were disappointed with our stay. Most importantly was safety; I would not feel comfortable staying there as a single woman as the parking lot and stairwell were poorly lit and there was no deadbolt on the main door. Also, the unit needed a deep clean; although the surfaces appeared “tidy” there was still visible dust in all the corners and on the fans, etc. I’ve never paid for a rental where I was asked to provide my own linens, towels, or toilet paper. Ultimately, I was glad we were forced to bring our own sheets and towels because I wouldn’t have felt clean otherwise. I wonder how long it’s been, if ever, since the comforter or pillows were washed? The bed (queen-sized) desperately needs to be replaced as it has a major sink hole in the center and made it extremely uncomfortable to sleep in. Likewise, the guests are asked to vacuum and take out their own trash, so it brings into question when the unit gets thoroughly cleaned in between guests. For how expensive this place was, it was shocking how little the owners provided for amenities or conveniences.
Anyways, this rental is fine if you plan to explore the OBX and not spend much time in the unit beyond sleeping/showering.

We appreciate the feedback. We have fixed the mattress issue (the box spring had broken) and passed your review to our cleaners to have the unit deep cleaned, as is our regular practice after the high summer season. Like many rentals on the Outer Banks, we leave linens as an option for our guests -- bring your own or rent them -- which helps to keep costs, and rentals rates, lower. We are lucky that Duck is a very safe place with negligible crime. We will note your point about the lights in the exterior stairwell of the building to the HOA.

Perfect spot to enjoy the beach!
Publié le 29 août 2024 sur HomeAwayThis is my second time at this property. Stayed here with my adult daughter at the beginning of summer and I liked it so much I came back myself for the end of summer! Great location right on the beach, watch the sun rise over the Atlantic from the deck. Clean and well stocked, cute property close to lots of restaurants and activities. Can’t beat it!

The beach, the beach, the beach
Publié le 1 août 2024 sur HomeAwayThe beach is fantastic! After you go over the dune, go to your right to set up camp as it’s easier to get out to the sandbar (or at least it was in July ‘24) and you’re closer to the lifeguard station. Our kids had so much fun in the ocean. This is a five-star location as you are maybe 1 minute to getting out on the sand. The condo itself is nice—though it really needs a new queen bed. The bunk beds are great for little kids, but if you have a teen, consider getting linens for the pull-out couch. The bunk bed mattresses could have been a bit more comfy as well. We flew into Norfolk and then drove out to Duck. If you do the same, stop and get toilet paper on the way. I feel like for the price, the owners could provide 4 rolls of toilet paper and 2 rolls of paper towels. The kitchen had all the utensils/plates/cookware but nothing else (oil/spices/etc.) We had planned to use the owner’s umbrella and chairs, but they were all rusted-out and broken. However, after contacting the owner, they quickly replaced them, which was very nice. If you can afford it, hire a company to set up umbrellas and chairs for you on the beach every day. You’ll get the best spot and then you will only have to bring down boogie boards, drinks, and towels. We rented an umbrella, linens, and a boogie board from Ocean Atlantic Rentals—the whole process was easy. Overall, it was a great location and we loved the beach. Duck is a super-cute town with great restaurants and much better than Kitty Hawk.
