Misrepresentation Galore
Publié le 15 août 2024 sur HotelsOur holiday started off great with a beautiful sunset and effortless checkin. The unit is beautiful with everything one could need. The location is perfect as it is close to shops and restaurants.
We specifically booked this unit, as we have done before, due it being advertised as PET FRIENDLY - the disclaimer clearly indicated pets stay for free.
Our dogs barked at the neighbour’s dog - as dogs do - which resulted in a complaint to security and the agent. We were informed that pets are not allowed, estate rules, and we should vacate the unit. No solutions or alternatives offered, no apologies, nor any ownership taken for the misrepresentation of the listing.
We were not allowed to stay there with our pets, regardless of the fact that the unit was advertised as pet friendly. Before we were packed up to leave the listing disclaimer was changed to no pets allowed.
Utterly disappointed in the agency and the manner in which this was handled.
This misrepresentation left a sour aftertaste.
Note: Hotels.com effortlessly assisted us afterwards with a refund.

Unfortunately, it appears that pets were smuggled into the property without our knowledge or consent. Our listing on the back end specifically states that pets are not allowed, but it seems that Expedia/Hotel.com incorrectly advertised the property as pet-friendly. We understand that this mistake caused confusion and frustration, and we apologize for the inconvenience.However, I want to clarify that I was not informed about any pets coming to the property, and our communication prior to your arrival did not mention pets. While our listing did indicate that the unit is pet-friendly, we assume that guests will inform about the type and number of pets they plan to bring. 'Pet-friendly' is a general term that encompasses various types of pets, and we cannot anticipate every scenario without prior notice. We cannot accommodate pets in the property, and our rules are in place to ensure the comfort and safety of all guests. We appreciate your understanding in this matter and hope that you will consider our property again in the future without pets.

I have stayed at many places through my travels and can say with confidence that Estelle gave us world class service and the stay was unforgettable. The house is immaculate and in pristine condition.
I would highly recommend anyone looking for a hassle free holiday in one of the best locations in Knysna to book at Thesen Island Holiday House. Estelle will go out of her way to ensure everything is perfect and exceed your expectations!
